Gymnasium and baths
Termessos, Pisidia, Asia Minor (Turkey)
1st century CE
Just next to the top gate of the city stands the building of an impressive size which once served the dual function of a bath and a gymnasium. The two-storey building consisted of an internal courtyard surrounded by vaulted rooms. The exterior is decorated with niches and other ornamentation of the Doric order. This structure dates from the 1st century CE. Some parts of the building are hidden underground, thus you can only see its north-eastern part.
