Tuli and um. the mushroom guy. Fergus ??? I think that was his name ??? or like at least all the posts with him in it were tagged Fergus so I'm assuming it was him ??? but anyways like. are they buddies or do they hate each other. or something. was re-reading through the crackhouse tag again and the only time Fergus [OR WHATEVER HIS NAME IS !!] is only drawn as more than a silhouette when he comes to get Tuli for the briefing and when he's slapping her upside the back for not shutting Cagney's door properly. I HAVE to ask because like. I Can't Tell and I like to have Background Characters in my BRAIN and also I just want to know more about the plant gang I guess. and also because when Tuli was talking about whatever she was talking about that one time and everyone in the same panel just seemed kind of annoyed so like. does anyone [Mushroom Man in particular but whatever] like Tuli ??

When Volo first joined the Ginkgo Guild and was a tiny wet Litten of a boy, Tuli enjoyed tormenting him with tales of the Alpha Froslass who resides underneath the snowy grounds of the Alabaster Icelands until he would burst into tears.

Tuli: ...and her favored victims? Pretty boys like YOU! Volo: *shrieks so loudly that a series of cracks form in the lenses of the glasses Ginter is wearing* Ginter: *removes the now broken glasses from his face and tosses them aside, then sends a silent glare towards the two before threatening to rise from his chair* Tuli: That was all his doing! None of mine! *shoves a sniffling Volo towards Ginter*

Even as a nineteen-year-old, a chill which has no relation to the frigid temperatures surrounding him still runs down his spine whenever he hears her haunting cry echo across the white landscape...

So one can only imagine Volo's astonishment and inner dismay when he discovers that exact Froslass in Akari's company!

Volo: Might that be a sixth occupied Poké Ball in your possession? You truly are a wonder! You're the sole member of the Galaxy Team who has managed to accomplish such a feat! Won't you allow me to meet this fortunate newfound friend of yours? Akari: If you insist. *she retrieves the Jet Ball, undoes the latch with a flick of her thumb, and allows it to roll off her palm* *The summoned Alpha Froslass lets out a familiar echoing cry, then eyes Volo with apparent interest* Akari: Her name is Faustina. Volo: *violently shuddering* ...Hello, Faustina. Akari: Is something the matter? ...Ah. Faustina's presence must be freezing those digits of yours. Volo: *has taken several steps backwards* Yes! That's... precisely what's the matter! My freezing digits...

In spite of Volo's apprehension, he truly has nothing to fear from her (until he betrays Akari, that is). She even makes several attempts to bring the two Wielders together as mates.

In actuality, this Alpha Froslass possesses a warm heart! Metaphorically speaking.

Which beats only for Akari's happiness...

(Following his betrayal, she desires to freeze Volo then present his ice-encased body to Akari under the mistaken belief it would bring her Wielder happiness because he can no longer flee from her.

Probably my favorite part of the Phoenix Museum of Art was The Unrequited Love Institute (T.U.L.I) by Safwat Saleem.

I wish I had better pictures, but Saleem transforms the space into cubicles, intake videos, and desks. You attend an intake video explaining you should leave your culture behind, and the are invited to read and listen to the artifacts of a life in the cubicles. These things includes documentation of the voicemails his parents leave as the distance between grows wider. The fear the quarantine gave him and struggle to survive. The widening culture gap between himself (an immigrant Pakistan I believe) and his daughter who is growing up in America as a small child, and more.

The vibe is very Severance-like with the intake and the fake company behind things, the corporate videos, and the attention to environmental details.

It’s also very heart touching to see this man finding various ways to chart and document the things going on in his head - from recipe cards to data graphs to a wall of tally marks counting the days of the years it took him to become a citizen of the US.

the interractivity is a big part - you flip through the recipe cards. You go through a binder as a fake zoom call of ‘higher ups’ deem the data collection on voicemails and the space created between immigrants and their families that still live in their native countries to be ‘irrelevant’. My favorite was listening to to a recording of Saleem telling the abridged history of his people to his daughter by way of an old click wheel phone you hold up to your head.

Obviously I was enchanted by his ‘recommended reading’ wall at the end of the experience, where you chose a memory you wish to keep and a memory you will allow yourself to lose in order to be integrated better into society.
