The Vål'Nurmate Order
The quayside bars and brothels throughout Fjørdvale provide fertile soil for rumors and theories about treasure in the south seas, and as often as not end with a vague reference to the Vål'Nurmate Order.
Some call them a necromantic cult seeking artifacts to revive their dark founders, others say they're simply ruthless sellswords who'd turn on their own mothers for the right price. All can agree that they're like sharks after blood when it comes to treasure hunting.
The members of the Nurmate do little to dispel these theories. Their singleminded devotion to their tenants- the very thing that makes them such an effective force- does not provide much time for public relations or image management.
But then, perhaps they prefer the misinformation? Fjørdvale is teeming with those who seek these relics for themselves, though all but the most craven would think twice before setting out for a hoard that the Nurmate has set its eyes on. As soon as whispers of some new treasure start to spread, there'll be those who suggest that the Nurmate's already on its way there- and if that's the case, it's as good as theirs. To be sure, many of the pirates and writbound corsairs that serve as these rumor's carriers would pass up even the Crystal Galleon of the Seven Swords rather than have to defend it from the Vål'Nurmate order.
