hey is there a rock enthusiast side of tumblr that can tell me what kinds of gemstones these are?
I tried doing my own research and I got as far as the first four being quartz, smoky quartz, blue lace agate and banded amethyst... I think.
The big maroon one looks like some kind of jasper but unlike all the pictures I could find of similar looking rocks it doesn’t have any marks, it’s just pure opaque maroon with maybe one or two tiny black spots
the orange one I have no clue, can’t find anything similar, it has kind of a scaly look to it, the one next to it is weird, it has a line around the centre that at first made me think that it was two gemstones stuck together, but the colouring of the yellowy dimpled side goes past the cut line, so now I’m suspecting someone tried to split it apart but couldn’t get through it
the top half looks like it might be a kind of jasper but I can’t quite figure out what kind, I have absolutely no clue what the bottom half is, it’s purely opaque, a gross yellow colour in good lighting, and has tiny dimples all over it
the blue one I suspected might be artificially coloured but I’m not sure, since as far as I’m aware artificially coloured stones are usually brighter, when I held it up to the light you can see that the dark blue colouring is opaque at the top and more of a clear yellowed colour at the bottom with thin dark blue lines shooting through it, I thought it was dyed because I’d read that the dye can be darker in the seams and cracks and that’s kinda what it looks like, but I could absolutely be wrong about that I’m not super knowledgable about this stuff
