This is a snippet of one-shot I was working on that at first had a lot of wind in it's sails. That is no longer the case, but I'm still proud of what I had written down :3
It was fueled by my need for Ascended Astarion and Vampire Bride things to read at the time. I know that topic is controversial, but I was writing this for MYSELF. I now introduce you to my Dark Urge Drow Sorcerer Alunirra
Tonight, she would die for him. And in dying, she would live forever at his side.
The tattoos on her skin prickled with energy as she approached, her storm sorcery responding to the charged atmosphere. Tiny arcs of electricity danced between her fingers, dissipating into the air like fireflies.
“Alaunirra.” Her name on his lips was possession and promise. “My darling girl. Are you ready to become mine? Truly, irrevocably mine?”
She stopped at the edge of the ritual circle, where his power thrummed against her senses like a tropical storm. “I have always been yours, Astarion. Since the night I let you taste me beneath the stars. Since the moment I saw you for what you truly are- not the mask, not the performance, but the magnificent creature beneath.”
A slow smile curved across Astarion’s lips, revealing the barest hint of his fangs.
Gods, she was perfect. No cowering, no false modesty, no pretense of being anything other than what she was- an electrical storm wrapped in drow flesh, a daughter of murder who looked at him and saw not a monster, but a god worth worshipping.
Now because I am personally chaotic by choice, and I know that I am late to the game with this (haha vacation, am I right?), I will be not so gently tagging @asorceresswrites @saylofwaterdeep @aerin67 @akelan @optimisticgrey @junoswritingpit @toomanyfamiliars @fireflyeyes @lucretiouswept and @amidtheglitz

Q&A Section
Q: What is Tumbleweeds? A: Tumbleweeds is my current concept of my dream story. Ideally, I hope to someday make it a tv show. However, it’s probably going to be indie- I’d rather die than let some corporate conglomerate tell me what to do with it!
Q: What is Tumbleweeds about? A: Tumbleweeds is centered around shapeshifting cowboys and found family. It follows Scorpio as he recounts the epic tales of he, his friend Cash, and the leader of their little posse, Vetra, as they traverse the continent of Desertis stealing form the rich and giving to poor. Along the way back closer to Vetra’s homeland she was exiled from, the Father Fields, they will encounter new friends, old enemies, issues floating beneath the surface and conflict that has the posse, people, and continent in a chokehold- including Vetra’s own past- that is threatening to boil over from unrest to war any second.
Q: So if Scorpio tells the story mainly about Vetra, which of them is the protagonist? A: I actually asked my English teacher about this, because it confused me a little, too- Vetra is the protagonist, while Scorpio is the deuteragonist (aka the second most important character) and Cash is the tritagonist (the third most important!)
Q: How did you come up with this? A: Tumbleweeds is a concept that’s been in my head since the COVID pandemic, which is when I discovered animation and the thing that eventually led me to make this story- Cuphead. Almost every character used to be a fankid (I’m not joking in the slightest. Younger me was very cringe.), and you can still see some design similarities if you squint. Eventually, it went from Cuphead AU to Cuphead AU in the Arctic Circle (don’t ask me why) to now it’s own completely original thing.
Q: Does this draw any inspiration from/rip off Ramshackle? A: NO! It may seem similar at first glance- three thieving misfits steal from the rich in a Wild West like setting- but I assure you, this was Tumbleweeds before I ever heard of Ramshackle! It’s a great pilot and I can’t wait to see more, but I promise, there are TONS of differences between it and Tumbleweeds- including political systems, characters, backstories, and overall plot.
Q: are there any other things besides Cuphead you draw inspiration from for Tumbleweeds? A: Yes! Some include: Robin Hood, Star Wars, the Bad Guys, Percy Jackson, and even some smaller aspects from things like Vivziepop’s older work and a short film called Bang Bang!
Q: any content warnings for the story? A: Tumbleweeds won’t be for young kids, despite its seemingly innocent premise. It will probably be for teens and young adults. It’ll most likely contain many of the following: blood/gore, character death, use of firearms, substance abuse (including that of both alcohol and drugs), extreme/frequent fantasy violence, political/religious theming, flashing lights, bigotry (by the characters, not the writer- I’m not like that, I swear!), severe trauma, and more.
Q: you said in the last question it would contain bigotry? What does that mean? A: it means that these characters are absolutely terrible people. Don’t get me wrong, there are PHENOMENAL people in Desertis, including Vetra, the posse, and much of the main cast. However, there will also be characters spin the story that treat people like a) personal toys for their own convenience and amusement, b) things that can just be bought, sold, and returned at a store for a low low price, and c) wort nothing more than to serve them, their goals, and do their dirty work- no matter what. Scorpio’s family had a terrible reason for kicking him out. Vetra’s stepdad bribed the sheriff to banish her forever in order to cover up her mother’s murder. Cash left his home because he felt he was too stupid to lead. Ender is being abused to the point where he doesn’t even care or feel anything that happens to him anymore, and Balor doesn’t care about anything else but profits and power. If you’re sensitive to stuff like this, or anything listed in the ask above this, please… this isn’t something you’d enjoy.
Who are the characters?
VETRA VENOMFIST- the stubborn yet soft-hearted leader of the Posse. Exiled from her original home in the Father Fields by her stepdad to stop word from getting out about her mother’s murder at his hand, she wandered Desertis for years as a vigilante before being tracked down by Scorpio and Cash. A lonely soul at heart, she was all too quick to accept their help, though she is still, without a doubt, the cowgirl in charge.
SCORPIO BLACKTHORNE- a young plant-creature kicked out of his home oasis by his family for a reason he’d rather keep confidential. He is a great storyteller, strong, inspirational, and had a great sense of humor and morality. He is the kind of guy every kid wants to be when they grew up. After Vetra helped him out of a tight spot, he started his own personal manhunt for her, resulting in him and his accomplice Cash entering Vetra’s posse and joining her in her quest for Desertis.
CASH CURRENTSY- a former aquatic royal who estranged himself from his kingdom due to his lack of an understanding of politics… and most other things, really. But don’t be fooled- despite lack of power upstairs, Cash has a big heart, a knack for disguises, and a vast knowledge of finances- he fits right in in Vera’s posse!
ENDER- a shark-like creature at the top of the bounty hunting food chain. Ender was trained brutally by his father Balor and his men, and has the scars to show for it- and the skills. He can track even the most difficult of prey fugitives for hundreds of miles if need be, and can scent every individual drop of blood in a city with ease. His ethics and morals are in question, but his professionalism with his jobs leads many officers of law enforcement to see him as the only way left to take down the Posse… but little do they know, Ender is already on their trail. He knows Vetra, he knows he does… but how? And why can’t he remember?!
BALOR- the professional yet cold-hearted owner of the Fireball Corporation, a large weapons manufacturer whose goods work justttt enough to keep people dying and keep people buying. He is Vetra’s stepfather and Balor’s real dad, and he’s terrible to both. He exiled Vetra to get her out of his way after killing her mother, and whipped Ender into line hard enough he doesn’t even remember him killing his. He has Desertis under his thumb like the true tyrant he is, and he knows Ender is after Vetra and will stop her meddling once and for all… but why does he feel like it won’t be that simple to get rid of her?
Some other characters include, but are not limited to: DUSTBUNNY, Vetra’s old friend, MORTIMER, the affable orphanage owner, LEO, Scorpio’s little brother, and HIBISCUS, their sister, LYDIUM GREEN, a kind and serious friend of Scorpio’s, BUBBA QUICKSILVER, the bartender who gives great advice, and SHERIFF CALLUM and his daughter CHLOE, the cops who ran Vetra out of town.
All characters art (if I ever get it posted lol) will be tagged with #[insert first name of character here.] ex: #vetra, #scorpio, #cash
ALSO: my general opinions/random posts about stuff unrelated to my art will be labeled #mack-attack!
wore myself out trying to impress somebody yesterday so today we're burning tumbleweeds.
fuck tumbleweeds.
i hate them more than anything i think. they are my only true foe left in the world. besides many of the people who i see or know about i guess...
anyways today's goal is clearing this one single mesquite plant and digging some shallow pits around it so the tumbleweeds will blow into those in the future instead of onto this poor mistreated tiny baby girl
