Bruno Mars Unorthodox Jukebox album review.

Bruno Mars looked like a true iconic pop star earlier on the Today Show. Perhaps paying homage to the King of Pop, Mars looked a lot like Michael Jackson in his legendary “Off The Wall” album cover.
The timing of his appearance was no coincidence. Today marked the release date of his new album, “Unorthodox Jukebox”.
Much of Bruno’s cross over appeal can be attributed to his versatility as an artist. Unorthodox Jukebox showcases his ability to do a little bit of everything, and do it really well.
The first release of this album, “Locked out of Heaven”, is a great example of his dynamic range.
Only he could pull off a convergence of styles ranging from a classic “Police” sound to a bit of Michael Jackson in true modern fashion.
The track “Gorilla” showcases another side of Bruno. He belts out lyrics in a way I haven’t heard from an artist since Lenny Kravitz, while presenting it with a modern edge.
Adding yet more variety to the mix is the smooth Ska track entitled "Show Me". Here Bruno shows us a some of the same charm that put Brad Knowles and legendary Ska band Sublime on the map.
My favorite track on the album is “If I knew”. This touching Blues song is impressive! It goes toe to toe with other Blues songs from greats such as Susan Tedeschi.
Bruno Mars is redefining pop music. In an era dominated by artists who follow the leader by producing similar material, he is bucking the trends. This album sets him apart from the rest of the “Pop Pack” by showcasing a wide array of genres and a willingness to step outside the box.
I have a feeling that we’ll be hearing a lot more from Bruno Mars.
