How can one write a letter from this melancholic Fiume without mentioning all the boredom, all the bitterness, the pain and the disgust, especially the disgust that poisons your soul? It's not the fantastic pirate nest, the hiding place of bandits and assassins, it's that boring and bored Fiume that I told you about. / Come si può scrivere una lettera da questa melancolica Fiume, senza trasfondervi tutta la noia, tutta l’amarezza, il dolore e il disgusto, specialmente il disgusto che t’avvelena l’anima? Non è il fantastico covo dei pirati, il nascondiglio dei briganti e degli assasini, e’ quella Fiume noiosa e annoiata, che t'ò parlato.
