The Month in Review for May, 2011
At the end of last month, I redesigned and renamed my Tumblr. I've already stated my reasons when it happened.
How is it going? All things considered, I think it's going pretty well. Since that heady time a month ago (has it been a month already?), I've gained about ten followers, or so Tumblr keeps insisting. Some of these people I've also started following myself. I've also decided that with a few exceptions, if they don't follow me, I'm not following them.
But I am attracting attention, which is what I wanted originally.
My promise to myself (I never posted about it, more's the pity) that I would write and post something every day has not gone as I had planned. Some days, nothing would happen worth posting about, or worth dealing with the consequences because I'd posted it.
Other moments in case you missed them:
I had an embarrassing moment on Tumblr that I beat myself up mercilessly about.
I wrote an impassioned email to my Congressman concerning suicide rates among veterans.
A Not Rapture Rapture happened (didn't happen), and I blogged about it.
I received news that a clinic will be named after my mother.
I wrote about the Led Zeppelin song "When the Levee Breaks" and its roots, hoping to bring home the point that the event this song portrays is responsible for the ascendance of Rock and Roll as a musical genre.
I violated the sanctity of office furniture, thus proving that a bored Tom is a dangerous one.
And I gushed over Wonder Woman more times than is probably healthy for a 42-year-old hetero male.
I've also made some "friends," if people you've only "met" online can be counted amongst friends:
So all in all, not a bad May. Here's to hoping June is even more awesome.
