well when i watched "The Shining" I didn't know it was a Kubrick movie. I was 8. Yup, my mom is a huge horror movie fan. Although now I don't think it's horror? It shows how we (humans) can all have a dark side as big as the sunny good people side. But i guess that's pretty scary... Same case with Clockwork Orange's Alex. Anyway, the shining would be my favorite... But Eyes Wide Shut is so great.

well, horror can have a number of definitions. but in terms of the film genre, probably not so much? doesn’t make it any less fucked up, though. 

speaking of inappropriate movies for children, i saw pulp fiction when i was 10, and can say with absolute certainty that i haven’t been the same since. this isn’t a bad thing.

stanley kubrick is indeed a genius. revisiting his work again and again always leaves me with something new. and also a lot to mull over. do you have a favorite? i usually find myself revisiting 2001, barry lyndon, and dr. strangelove the most.
