Some advice

If someone wants to give you flak for playing your mains or your diamonds

Make them 1v1 you

Now here's where the fun part comes in. Make them 1v1 you on the condition that both of you can only play gods that you're bad at or unfamiliar with. For people who love variety and play multiple gods this might be a bit challenging for you but it's still fun to try.

It calls for you to win through skill in the game rather than skill with a god you're good at.

I won't lie, the game will not start out very fun unless you love calling yourself trash and know how to laugh when you do things wrong in game.

BUT if you're like me and you can learn/remember how to play a character fairly quickly then you are going to win a majority of these games no matter what.

It shuts up anyone who tells you to stop playing your mains/diamond gods real quick.

A diamond in the rough:

I was playing smite on Saturday and had a Mercury who instalocked. I thought to myself, “oh god here we go...” 

Turns out, the guy was pretty fucking nice through out the game. He fed me (playing Freya) a bunch of kills and then said “Nice Job” unironically after every single one of them. He even saved my life a few times when I had 1 hp. And after all that, he even tipped me FP. 

TBH I’ve never had an instalock be so nice. I just had to share it on the internet because I know I would forget about him.

Apollo/Jing Wei fun thing

So in modes like assault and clash, whenever I play Apollo, I will sometimes ult from base and scream “I’m Jing Wei!” as I ride my sun chariot to lane. it wastes a ton of mana and takes away Apollo's second escape, but it’s so much fun I can’t help it.

About playing your multiple starred X's

I absolutely love the positivity that's rolling through the smite tumblr community right now of "play your favorite god if you want to, play your 8 starred geb/awilix/anhur/etc. if it makes you happy." I love it even with it's flaws. Because for a long time (and I mean a LONG TIME) I felt bad for playing my diamonds. I felt bad for playing them when there were other gods to master, other people who wanted to play those gods, people who will think poorly of me when they see the X on my player card during the loading screen. I'm happy with knowing more about the game because of that feeling. But I wish I had that kind of support when I wanted to keep playing my earlier X's. Because I genuinely love them and thought that I had to stick them up on a pedestal for display only because of that X. Even now, I still feel bad for playing Artemis. In the back of my mind I think, 'my teammate probably wanted to be hunter,' or, 'my teammates probably think I should play someone else because I already have them at X with a star,' or whatever other stupid bullshit my anxiety ridden mind can think up in the 40 seconds of the loading screen. And yea, playing your main all the time has downsides, don't get me wrong. But just kicking back and playing a god you're comfortable with a bit of the time is good for you. It helps you remember why you love this game, why you like that god, why you decide to keep playing. So I want to say thank you to whoever started all the positivity regarding playing whoever you want. And I want to thank the tumblr smite community for spreading positivity about this. (Also please disregard all of the errors here it's nearly 6:00 am here and I haven't slept.)
