When the ring box thumped into his chest, Ray's hands automatically came up to catch it, not even realising what it was to start with. When he actually looked down, however, his breath caught, and he froze. Was this really...? "Gavin?" Ray piped up, voice smaller and softer when compared to earlier.
After a fight, my muse throws a ring box at yours. How does yours react?
The change of tone in Ray's voice broke Gavin's heart. WIth how heated things had gotten, tossing the box had happened before Gavin's mind had even caught up with his actions. He'd thrown it with anger in his soul, but now he only felt a distinct, painful spike within him.
So much for the romantic proposal he'd been planning today. So much for a proposal at all. There wouldn't be a chance Ray would accept now.
"Just... Don't. I---... I can't, Ray." Couldn't what? Handle having his heart tossed back at him? God, he didn't even know. His trembling fingers carded through his own hair as his gaze fell to the floor. He couldn't handle looking at the younger lad right now. He felt like such an idiot.
