The Difference Between a TV or Movie Bible and a Pitch Deck
Most filmmakers and filmed entertainment writers are familiar with a bible. It can be something super simple like a word document with detailed descriptions of the story setting, characters, structure, synopisis, etc... And it can be a super engaging lookbook with all that stuff and tons of reference images and color schemes, etc...
A pitch deck is a much much more streamlined version and - very importantly - it also includes the business reasoning behind the pitch. Check out the example on the Lift Your World FB group. It’s about 20 slides.
However, in getting key people on board it makes sense to start with a super small deck of about five slides. Then, we can follow up with a bigger pitch deck, the bible, and the script.
Think about a showrunner, producer, or developer checking their email... You’ve got about two seconds to get their attention and five seconds to get them intrigued enough to want to dive in further. You can also use this same system for getting actors and other key players on board.
Great work on the list of shows!!! Over time I can help you gather the names and contact info for showrunners and connect with them :)
After you check out that example pitch deck, let me know what you think and if you want help on a bigger level then editing, let me know!
