British TV London Weekend Television Ident 1978–1986
can i propose a new addition to “scary logos”? (for context, i am referring to tv logos that instill uncomfortable or fearful feelings in someone.)
fox news has a ident that plays before broadcasts/continuations sometimes that displays it’s logo centered on the screen over a plain white background as it reads aloud “fox news. america is listening.” in a stern newscaster type voice with text appearing beneath the logo to immediately cut out after. no music, nothing. just silence apart from the voice.
disclaimer i do not watch fox news, it was on my parent’s tv.
the reason i propose this as a scary logo is because one time i happened to catch this ident coming on, i also happened to be alone in the room. everything was relatively normal, but the pause after “america is listening” lasted a few seconds longer than usual leaving static silence. sometimes news stations take extra time or lag to get the broadcast going, and that is why we get those eerie seconds long pauses (i believe.) i just found it a bit chilling as it was the first time i had caught fox news doing it, and the ident in itself is uncomfortable. i have not seen it happen again since.
i was going to add the video but it is not on the internet. :(
