TOP 5/10 CHARACTERS PER SHOW (as voted by my followers) ↳ teen wolf edition #4. Scott McCall portrayed by Tyler Posey
Sometimes I wonder if we (as a fandom) have over-analysed scenes to the point that we’ve forgotten what we were actually watching.
Most of our favourite parts of Supernatural, the mothership as it were, are our favourite bits because they’ve been analysed and broken apart and put back together so many times that we can create this bigger picture that is further moulded by our own headcanons and fic plots and playlists. And that’s what makes Supernatural great.
I’ve seen a lot of #thoughts on The Winchesters now that the pilot is out, and I know that not everyone thinks it was a winner - the jokes were cheesy, the CGI looked terrible, it didn’t feel right, whatever else - but I’d argue that’s because it’s being compared to the Supernatural in our heads, not the Supernatural that aired on television.
I’ve said it before and I still believe it with my whole heart… Supernatural should just be a mediocre watch and forget network television show, but it’s not because of the passion of the people it sweeps up under it’s spell and the little bit of extra magic each and every person who gives it a little love sprinkles on top. This new passion project just needs the same magic.

I recently finished rewatching Teen Wolf, and there were two scenes that really jumped out to me which I want to talk about: the first was in Wolf Moon (1x01) and the second was in Battlefield (2x11).
In Wolf Moon (1x01), a distraught Allison shows up at the veterinary clinic, after having accidentally hit a dog while driving. Scott takes the dog inside and bandages up its leg, while trying his best to comfort Allison.
As she calms down, Allison apologises for panicking and it’s clear that she’s frustrated with herself for “freaking out like a total girl”. Scott responds by pointing out that she is a girl, and she specifies that “I freaked out like a girly girl, and I’m not a girly girl”.
Scott: I’d be freaked out too. In fact, I’d probably cry. And not like a man. I’d cry like the girliest girl. It would be pathetic.
I love this scene so much, both because of the insight we get into Allison’s character (her insistance that she’s “tougher than that”), and Scott’s response. He doesn’t hesitate to make himself look ‘feminine’ or ‘vulnerable’ in front of the girl he likes, and he’s gentle and understanding the entire way through the conversation.
In Battlefield (2x11), Isaac learns how he can take pain from people and animals. He’s suffered years of abuse, and he cries when he relieves the dying dog’s pain. It’s a beautiful scene, and once again I love Scott’s response. Isaac glances up at Scott, probably expecting him to mock or criticise him, but instead Scott smiles gently and says, “It’s okay. First time he showed me, I cried too.”
I love how in both of these scenes, Scott isn’t afraid to make himself look ‘weak’ in front of others. He knows that there’s nothing wrong with crying or being emotional, and he’s quick to comfort and reassure both Allison and Isaac.
