Life updates and activity notice

Hello, hello! I am still alive. I know I’ve sort of fallen off the map for the last few months but I figured I should check in here and throw in an update on what’s going on. Tldr; my mum’s got pretty advanced bowel cancer so that’s been keeping me pretty busy - and on top of that both editors at work left (one on long term sick, and the other on maternity) so I got last minute promoted and now I’m currently doing three people’s jobs. Anyway, needless to say it’s been hard™.

That said, it’s also completely beyond my control and I’ve sort of made my peace with that I think, which is helping. So I’m going to tentatively try and be back here in some way, shape, or form - since I miss my dandelion gal. I can’t promise war and peace or high activity - but I can promise long suffering workaholic energy.

Thanks for sticking with me this far.

The hot sand crunches under Conrad's feet, coarse and soft all at once. As his olive green eyes glanced ahead at the ocean waves, his memories with Belly circled through his mind rapidly, like an old film. He could almost picture their kiss last summer and even the trip down to Cousin's Beach for Christmas. Conrad missed her like hell but knew he screwed everything up between them, so he couldn't really blame her for running to Jeremiah. Truthfully, Jeremiah had always been better with Belly anyways. 

Conrad had known Belly forever, and though it may have taken him a minute to understand his feelings for her(that had always been there), their relationship wasn't exactly easy, espically after his mom's cancer got bad. He didn't handle it well, but that didn't mean also losing Belly in the process didn't hurt like hell. The slight color left in his life went out when they broke up. 

Although he knew he had no right to be upset, he was. Conrad was still in love with Belly, so seeing her kiss his brother stung more than he could ever express. He crimped his lips as he puffed out fumes from his cigarette. As someone approached him, he figured it was probably his best friend. " I'm fine, Steven."

So, my friends death hit me pretty hard today; even harder knowing I couldn’t go and say goodbye - or that anyone got to. And no funeral service - she’s going straight from the funeral director, into the ground. And that is so hard... to come to terms with. Not only has she gone - and I didn’t get to say goodbye, not going to see her again, but I can’t go and say a proper goodbye at any service. 

Then my aunt’s mom died a few days back; so that has been hideous to come to terms with because the same is basically happening for her - and she was around so much during my childhood. Neither died of COVID19, for those curious. My friend had Leukaemia - had done for the past three years and was actually showing very promising results from recent treatment. She was getting better. Then her appendix became inflamed, infected and ultimately she died of the infection. And my Aunt’s mom had Alzheimer’s, but they found she had pancreatic cancer way too late - she died days after finding out. The family is surrounded by death - my brain feels like Swiss cheese. 

So I suppose this is why I haven’t been very talkative or active other than little posts and icon making. 

On a lighter note - I am considering a Tseng blog.

(( sometimes i think about how it’s only been 4 months since cancer took my dad. and then i start to get flashbacks to when i saw him in his hospital bed, dead. he was cold to the touch and his face was lobsided and i couldnt even look at him for too long because i was scared i was just going to fucking snap. i feel so conflicted. on one hand, i WISH he told us. but then a part of me is thankful i didn’t have to know until it was too late.

also i’m so fucking pissed whenever people tell me “oh! he didn’t tell you because he wanted to protect you!!!” like. no. shut the fuck up. i will NEVER know why he didn’t tell us. that shit died with him. stop feeding me this bullshit cliche shit.

Soooo I’m gonna vent in a post like these are for me, more than anything. There are school closures in the UK which is about time but the schools will still be open for all the keyworkers children and those who are vulnerable which looks like rather possibly I’m going to be in work, even for my Easter Break. Times are tough and I’m doing my part to help out. Anxiety is flaring out with all the uncertainty, my head is pretty spacy and I guess that I just don’t want to cave with all of this going on. People are telling me to stay home- cause long story short dad had cancer but got the cancer removed and is recovering now, but I gotta do my part. 

I dunno, just this is all cloudy which I hate. I’m just staring at walls. Maybe I need to find something better in this grey headspace.

((Today would’ve been my Dad’s 63rd birthday. But his liver cancer took him a few weeks back. My mom and I celebrated it by going out for hot fudge sundaes. He couldn’t have stuff like that because of his diabetes but I know he would’ve loved one.

Happy Birthday, Dad. I love you so much. <3))

What was your childhood like?

“Very good yes nothing to talk about straight A’s all around no drugs or crime involved can we move on?”

(( Rough. Despicable. It was everything he wanted to forget and remember all the same. A little boy who was only nine when his mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Looking confused, but still he knew that he had to take care of her now, take care of both her and his little brother. Kieran’s dad left after she couldn’t provide him with the bodily pleasures he wanted but he still wanted to be in Kieran’s life. A leech, that’s what he was. Didn’t even stick around for more than two years. Didn’t pay for shit. The stress was too much for a kid to handle but smoking took a bit of the edge off. The cops didn’t like a 13-year-old smoking. It was fun to run away from them when he was young. He was tired but they needed him to be strong. 14; no one wanted to hire a kid with no experience. 15; pick-pocketing and mugging became a way of life. He could pay rent and put food on the table. He told his mom he worked as an apprentice at a car shop. 16; Drugs were fun. They took the edge off. Sex was fun as well. Sex while on drugs? The best shit a troubled teen knew about. 17; Kieran had to be sent to school. The solution was to hurt more people, steal whatever he could, sell it forward. Kieran got his chance. An older brother now came home once or twice a day, bringing money. Looking like shit, black eyes, open wounds, dried blood, bruised knuckles. “The work at the shop is kinda rough mom, don’t worry about me.” She smiled and kissed her eldest son on the forehead. “So proud of you Casey.” She said. She shouldn’t be saying that. But he smiled back and kissed her on top of the head. “I know, mom. I love you.” The only truth he had spoken in a long time. ))

Okay my mind is slowly changing about Jealousy Incarnate. The part where he got a mammogram was too real....lol I don’t mean to laugh at his pain nor hie being tested for breast cancer, but the fact that they are showing a male character who possibly has it speaks volumes to me. Also his reaction to getting the mammogram was way to real. You go in you stand there topless and the smash your chest between two flat boards and he who has nothing up top seemed to be in more pain because of it. Bless his heart it still made me laugh.
