One moment Rose is taking care of a job for Unit, the next one Bad Wolf feels a pull. Something is different, something is changing that isn't meant to, not now, further down the line, but it's wrong and she must fix the wrongs. Especially this one, she knows she's meant to do it. So she steps across the timeline, reaching through the universe and time itself, to find the threat. "You shouldn't be here, this is not your place," she says, eyes burning with light, and only speaks up so that Rose, some day, when she remembers this, will be able to grasp why, "Return where you were and stop." A wave of her hand, and the hundreds of creatures disintegrate, never having been there, soon never having existed after the point in time in which they were meant to die. So small and insignificant, yet loud enough to have attracted them there. Perhaps she should have cut the branches of their entire family earlier than that point, destroyed it at the root? The Bad Wolf turned, sensing her Doctor was there. Too soon for her, too soon for them.

Great, not even an hour into exploring a seemingly abandoned space station and they discovered that a) the space station wasn’t as abandoned as expected and b) the Doctor and Sam were thus accused of trespassing and held at gun point. Who would’ve thought that joining a time travelling alien on their space adventures yielded similar results to a bad day of policing in 70s Manchester?

Instinctively Sam put up his hands to signal that he meant no resistance and bit back a sour remark that this wouldn’t have happened if they’d just travelled to 2006 instead. “Don’t shoot,” he uttered as calmly as possible, “You don’t want to do this. And there’s absolutely no need to; we mean no harm.”

But the ragged looking gunmen with their fancy laser guns didn’t buy it. Haphazardly the intruders’ pockets were searched; unearthing the Doctor’s precious sonic screwdriver, and Sam’s 70s police revolver. The latter’s discovery earning the DI an unfriendly punch to the face.

“Who sent you?!,” one with an extra impressive laser rifle addressed the Doctor, as obviously Sam could not be trusted.

Jenny had no intention of meeting her father again, not yet at least, not now, especially since being trapped in a prison or whatever this place is means she'll likely have to fight her way out, and she's not very good at stopping once she starts, especially after they have hurt her. It's almost like going back to that day and it makes her furious. She had no intention, but then they said that they have the Doctor and his daughter, she heard that, and all plans have gone to hell. Well, one plan, the plan where she leaves her cell and then looks for a way out.

Because of course, of course, she has to go see him, he can take care of himself but you never know, or at least she doesn't want to risk it and very much wants to see him, which is why after escaping through a vent and hacking the first little panel, she goes through a corridor of empty cells until she finds the first occupied one. It's not her father's face, but she doesn't have his daughter's face either, and it has to be him, right? "Doctor? Are you the Doctor?" she tries, because she can't think of anything else but that.

She always felt better with them by her side. Even now, after all these years, through three centuries asleep in the great library and the further half century it took to claw her way back to where she had left off, there was a still a place in her heart for them. Where else in the universe would she be? Knee-deep in alien soil fighting an ancient piece of tech that had suddenly sprung back into action after years of inactivity... oh god, she hated to compare herself to that thing out of there, but the similarities were frankly uncanny.

River's features contorted with disgust, pushing away that uncomfortable thought as she reloaded her gun. Shoot first, analyse after. ❝ Darling would you mind terribly If I told you to stay the hell down!? I can't keep an eye on you and that thing ... ❞
