❛ um. ❜ her eyes stay trained on samira as she shifts towards the sink. trinity debates her next move for a few moments before her body wins out, mumbling a quick 'thanks' as she heads into the stall. when she exits, she sees samira against the wall.

trinity walks to the sink, using the time it takes to wash her hands to think about what to say. or if she should even say anything. it seemed pretty clear by her reaction that samira wasn't looking to share this moment with anyone, and if there's anything trinity understands, it's wanting to be left alone. she's essentially decided to clear the space when samira speaks again.

i lied about my panic disorder. she barely has time to process that statement before samira continues. i have a heart condition. there's about a million thoughts running through her head, most trying to wrap around the idea of samira lying about something so serious. when she thinks about it for more than a few seconds, though, she finds it's actually not that shocking. this is samira, after all. the last thing she would want is to have something impede her work, especially in the high adrenaline environment of the emergency department.

so rather than admonish her ( that's not really trinity's style, anyway ) , she approaches slowly, stopping a couple feet in front of her. ❛ are you okay ? ❜

"No." Somehow she smiles though, a bit desperate, a bit relieved that it's over, and aware that this is a crazy conversation to have while sitting on the bathroom floor. "I'm not currently dying, the whining is purely of the emotional sort. But no. And I think... I think I risked it today. I took my meds but... I did too much. My heart did not appreciate the effort."

No need to tell Santos she has no idea of what to do with her life now. Hiding something life-threatening just so she could keep working the same hours was pretty damning by itself. "Robby is going to kill me," she adds then, almost chuckling at the thought, "He only let me do extra hours because he thinks I'm pushing through a panic disorder. I'm screwed."

SAMIRA MOHAN: I TAKE IT YOU'RE FREE NOW?

mel shifted her weight, head moving until she could place eyes on who was speaking to her. she paused, blinking slowly as samira's voice registered, pulling mel back from the mental checklist of patient charts and pending labs she was still subconsciously processing. a small flicker of a smile touched her lips before she adjusted her glasses and finally replied to the other's question. 'free is a relative term in this building,' she leaned against the nurse's station, turned at an awkward angle that wasn't completely open to anyone, but which wasn't closed to samira as they talked, either. 'but i've officially handed off the last of my trauma updates, so, technically - yes, i'm free,' she nodded once, eyes moving to sit just below samira's own. 'what did you need?' @savingthrcw.

She wasn't sure of why, maybe because Mel was such a hard worker but never snapped at anyone - that she knew of - but something about the other doctor made Samira always feel at ease. As much as she loved taking care of patients, she knew she didn't give off the same vibe. At all. "I'm almost done with my follow-ups, I was wondering if you'd like to grab a coffee after we clock out."

See, I'm trying, she thought, as if her therapist could hear her. But inviting dr. King wasn't just an item on her checklist, it was the one she had actually been hoping would happen. She sure didn't look forward to the part where she discussed with Robby was she was still allowed to do in her current condition.

She didn't even know how to feel, whether to cry in relief because Spike was alive or be angry because Spike was alive, working with Angel, and no one had told her. Something about Spike's very existence seemed to push people around her to lie and manipulate, apparently. Hadn't Andrew been at Angel's 'new workplace' not long ago? But then she chose to focus on positive feelings, at least for now. "Yes, I do," she insisted calmly. In their last months together, she had made a point of vocally believing in him, and there was no reason to stop now that he had proved her right. "For everything. For... dying for us, for trusting me to lead you when nobody else did. And I never said it, but for watching over Dawn while I was dead..." and all the other many things that she had never gotten the chance to address.

"... we sure die a lot."

"Right. Always expect the least expected. Swear you're like a cat, Slayer."

He shook his head, but couldn't wipe the sodding smile forming from his face. Had she really just said what he thought he heard? That she knew she could count on him? Did she really know that now, consciously? Or was there still a doubt somewhere, lingering in her mind? And... did it matter?

No, really. What did it matter? To even be regarded in such high capacity in her mind? That was something, at least. These days Spike didn't ask for much, anyway. But that... That was more than he'd ever thought he'd deserve. But she showed him he was indeed capable. Not just some evil husk...

Could he really motivate them like she did? Wouldn't they be more doubtful of him than anyone else?

Spike wondered if this is how that other Slayer felt about all this business; scared. Nervous as hell. Wait a sec....

"Hey now- Are you... Are you sure? What about Faith and all? Ain't she just as capable as you are?"

But what Spike really wondered was... Why him? He could never even begin to measure up to a Slayer; and his pride refused him to even say it aloud. But they both knew it.

Buffy smiled back at him, just as softly, until he asked that question, comparing her to Faith, and she remembered how cozy they looked together in the basement, sitting side by side on his bed.

"... sure, or hey, I could ask Angel to stop by. Isn't he as capable as you are?" maybe he'd get the veiled hint that he had chosen the worst phrasing possible.

"You already have me on the edge of my seat." Buffy said, keeping that eyebrow raised in curiosity when her little sister was trying to get to the point. Obviously, she wanted her to consider whatever it was and not judge too hastily. While it did raise some concern with her, she was going to try and do just that. "Okay, open mind. Got it. Super open." After all, Dawn was an adult now...

However, when she finally told her, Buffy paused in her eating, blinking at her with a surprised look. "Okay...not what I thought you'd have in mind. I thought it would be something about boys or anything else, so color me surprised. Is it okay if I ask you why? Why do you want to become a Watcher?"

"I'll be thinking about boys again when boys stop turning out to be vampires or demons," Dawn muttered without any enthusiasm, because really, she had the feeling her track record was going to be similar to Xander's.

But she was happy to have Buffy question her with curiosity, instead of going on the attack about how important college was; her friend Janice wanted to take a year off to travel, and her mother had almost bitten her head off. Then again, Dawn wasn't trying to backpack anywhere. "Because I'm your sister. I know what's out there, I've seen you... struggle and fight... and the best feeling, for me, was when I found something in a book that could help you. And out there, there will be infinite girls who need someone who gets it, you know? Who gets that they deserve a life, but also that they have the responsibility to fight monsters, and... I want to help them. Like Giles helped you. I want to be a part of 'team take demons down', even if I don't have any powers. Witchcraft isn't for me, but researching, guiding and encouraging? That I can do. Or I will be able to do."

        admittedly, he didn’t expect her to believe him right away, or maybe ever, but her pulling her gun on him was a bit of a shock. to his credit, he didn’t so much as flinch—maybe cooper howard wasn’t prepared for his daughter to draw her weapon but the ghoul was always prepared for the worst.

        no, having a gun aimed at his face, even by her, wasn’t what really shocked him, but her assuming barb had sent him? she made less and less sense every time she brought up her mother and he needed to know. two-hundred years was a long time and of all the scenarios he’d dreamt up about finding his family, finding out his daughter wanted to kill her own mother had never been one of them.

        “send me? you found me, remember? back at booker’s place. and send me for what? until you showed up goin’ by coop, i didn’t even know you were still alive…” he’d hoped, of course, but after so long searching, he’d started to doubt he’d ever find out what happened to them, let alone find out they were both alive.

"You could've been planted there. I'd never underestimate my mother with this." Initially, that woman had been determined to bring her back, under the pretense that she was scared she'd get killed in the Wasteland - luckily enough, it was the very reason why Janey wasn't in town when the bomb had been dropped. Fuck it, she was still scared of her mother.

She gripped her gun tighter, trying to tell herself to focus on what was more realistic here. "Tell me something only my father would know. Don't give a shit if it's been centuries, so don't even start with that excuse." Which was unfair, she knew it - unlike most people, she had been gifted with a perfect memory when it came to what she had heard or read. Or at least, the content. Voices not so much, or she wouldn't have to doubt whether he sounded like her father or not. The last tape of his movie had gotten ruined from her continuous watching years ago, so all she was left with now was the thought that he did sound like her dad, but it might also be just her brain playing tricks. Unfair or not, though, if he remembered her name, maybe he'd have something more substantial too.

“Oh, god. Please be alive. Please still be alive!”

“On a scale of 1 to 10, how much does it hurt?“

“That looks pretty bad. I think you need stitches.”

“What do you mean you’re fine? You are not fine!”

“You should lay down, you hit your head pretty hard.”

“Well… I hope you at least gave as good as you got.”

“That’s a really nasty looking bruise. Need some ice?”

“I got you. It’s gonna be okay, you’re going to be okay.”

“I don’t know how you’re even conscious at this point.”

“Stop being so stubborn and just let me patch you up!”

“You’re going to stay in bed and heal. I’ll handle things.”

“I’m going to find you did this to you, and I’m going to kill them.”

“’Don’t do that’, I said. ‘You’ll get hurt’, I said. And what did you do?”

“So, you tried bandaging this up, and you… well, you did your best.”

“Oh, thank god, you’re finally awake. Thought I lost you for a minute there.”

“I found you laying out there in the cold. Had to fight to keep you breathing.”

“Okay, no, I’m not laughing. Not laughing. Are you okay? That must’ve hurt.”

“Who did this to you? And, no, I’m not going to believe this was an accident.”

“Of course I’m worried about you. You keep getting hurt, and keep not letting people look after you.”

“I bandaged you up while you were out and… this isn’t the first time you’ve been hurt this bad, is it? I saw the scars.”

        he could tell immediately that he’d gone a bit too far and he couldn’t blame her for being annoyed with him and his tone. they were friendly acquaintances at best and even that may have been pushing it, but he just couldn’t help it. despite his wife’s role in things, she’d explained things to him more than sufficiently and the idea that he could have been mistaken all this time, that she could have still been lying to him, unsettled him deeply. he had to know.

        but was this really how he wanted his daughter to find out who he was? did he even want her to find out at all? whatever man she’s built up in her head, he wasn’t that man anymore, might not ever have been the idealized version she seemed to think he was.

        of course, he could still just lie to her. in theory, anyway. lying straight to her face didn’t sit well with him and he wasn’t even sure he could come up with something convincing enough anyway.

Janey was a strong woman, she had to be to carry around her beloved big guns, but the speed with which she pulled her minigun up, ready to shoot, was near impossible, something only a shot of adrenaline could explain.

"Don't you fucking--My daddy is dead," her brain was in such an override, trying to figure out what was happening, how he knew her name - her mother, her mother had sent him to trick her, right? What the hell kinda plan was that? - that her voice went from a growl to pain, because the girl she was had never gotten over the way her father and her world had been ripped from her. "You... you..." anger again, which held her words back because too many insults wanted to come out. You-you-you sound so familiar to me, she'd been thinking that, she'd been feeling some weird lack of violent instincts with the ghoul.

She hated that she was so quickly trying to accept what he had said, wanted to buy the story no questions asked, if it meant she still had him. Fucking loser. "I took a fucking bullet for you and..." and that one she couldn't even blame on any special bond they had, she had taken bullets for lots of people - loser. softie. "You about to take a hundred or so yourself in the face. Unless you can convince me she didn't send you."

these are the hardest weeks at work, relatively speaking, because it's the end of the school year and the kids are desperarely trying to pass their last exams, so I'm mostly going to be on my blogs on the weekend, with the exception of @lovecreature, you can find me there daily! Starter for @lovecreature

It felt unreal how the whole crew had managed to bust out of that accursed island almost unscathed, with a very angry emperor roaring at the distance and the grief off loss plaguing the Strawhats after Pedro's sacrifice.

Sanji was back. Back to the people he once called a crew and he betrayed like that. Back to serve the captain that he mercilessly kicked in the face until he saw him until he rendered him unable to stand on his own feet. And still, when the storm blew away they embraced him again, twisting more the knife that was plunged in his chest. Kindness was a killer. And theirs hurt more than anything.

However, the strictest judge of them all was her. Nami didn't take any hostages when it came to loyalty and the people she cared about the most, and he was well aware of that. And now she was furious. Like ...FURIOUS! Yet she didn't show it as much as she had wanted because maybe she was glad he was back with them...or at least that's what he hoped.

Sanji stood against the window of Sunny's lounge area, staring outside at the ocean that was illuminated by the moonlight like a canvas of black and white. But his mind was aware of two eyes that glared holes on the back of his skull.

When Sanji wasn't looking at her, she was glaring at him, and whenever he tried to look at her, she'd turn her head away to show how upset she was. But really, Nami was conflicted more than anything else: too many feelings had hit her after the adventure was over. Worry, pain for him and what he had gone through, curiosity after the very few things they had learned about his past, anger because he hadn't asked for their help or especially hers, after she had gone through the same exact thing, except he had been a part of the crew the whole time, he wasn't new like she had been. And relief that he was back, happiness, even.

"A villain is threatening everyone I love, and instead of asking for help, I'll act like I hate the crew and deal with it on my own," she spoke loudly, now looking up at the stars. "Do you know how insulting it is, that you wouldn't share that with me? Not before, not during, not even after... You don't even have the excuse of me not understanding what is like. You don't have the excuse of not knowing how I, or the rest of the crew, would react, because you saw it at Coco Village. And I only knew you guys for a few weeks. The only explanation I can think of is that you don't trust me. Or that you don't care about me. So which one is it, Sanji?"
