Fandom: The Walking Dead
Pairing: Gavin/Reader
Prompt: #53 - “Who cares about what they think?”
A/N: Happy New Years everyone!
You sighed, snuggling back into the warmth you were currently encased in. Strong arms were wrapped around you, holding you tightly against the body that was laid behind you. Sunlight was streaming through the small window and was casting a warm glow onto your face.
“Mornin'” A gruff voice said close to your ear, causing you to shiver slightly.
You slowly turned around to face Gavin.
“Good morning gorgeous.” You grinned, snuggling closer to the man.
Gavin grumbled at your words then slowly began to rise from the bed, leaving you alone in the bed without his body warmth. Wrapping the blankets tightly around you, you watched as he pulled on various items of clothes.
“You're going already?”
“Have to,” He replied, buttoning up his shirt. “Gotta make sure no one spots me sneaking out of here.”
A stab of hurt shot through you which you tried to shove away, you were used to this. It happened every time Gavin stayed over and you tried not to let it get to you, but slowly the hurt was wearing away at you.
“Okay.”
You rolled over, bringing the sheets right up to your face and listened as Gavin finished getting dressed. The two of you stayed silent and when it came to Gavin leaving, he leaned over and planted a rough kiss onto your cheek then made his way to the door.
“You know why it has to be like this don't you?” Gavin spoke up as he paused at the door.
“Who cares about what they think?” You shot back at the man, sitting up in the bed to look at him.
“It's not about what they think Y/N” Gavin sighed, clearly exasperated. “I've told you before, I'm not ashamed of you. I just want to keep you safe.”
“By keeping our relationship hidden away?” You scoffed.
Gavin sighed, closing his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. You could see he was slowly counting down from ten so he wouldn't lose his cool. This conversation would happen a lot and you could tell he was getting tired of repeating the same things to you over and over again.
“Y/N...” He spoke after a few seconds. “I can't risk them knowing about us, I'm sorry.”
You watched as the man you had fallen completely and utterly in love with left you alone, the door clicking behind him.
