That 5% thing doesn't sound right... Even though there are over 300 million people in America...

i know it's so fuckin weird to me that asian americans are only 5% of the population, but i mean wiki says it here, another source here, and goddamn official census has it here

i think it might seem really weird bc the percentages are so skewed? like one hand you have hawaii with a whopping 38% asian american population and on the other you have west virginia with less than 1% hahahaha

here's a full brief of the 2010 census re: asian american populations, it's p interesting to see the detailed results and one kinda interesting thing to note is that about a third of the states have like around or less than 2% asian american population; the west region has a 11.1% asian population in contrast to the northeast's 6% and the midwest + south's 3%

also, asian americans tend to be fairly urbanized and clumped together in certain cities as detailed here

like you have cities like seattle (REPRESENT) and san fran and la and nyc along the coasts where the pop density is super high but then you kinda get to the more rural midwest of the country and it's kinda like damn there are NO ASIANS HERE

so anyway kind of an interesting thing to see i guess haha. i feel like most people on tumblr (at least that i associate with) tend to be liberal and i mean liberals are concentrated along the coasts so it makes sense that we're used to seeing higher asian populations.

Okay, cool! I was wondering if you could gif the parallels between 1.
