Tweakweek day 7 (free day) !

Tweak Week 1!
So, since this week I'm focusing on "fixing up" some previous stuff, I thought I'd start with my Shaggy Werewolf painting. The original idea with this was to make a scary werewolf with some familiar domestic animal features (cat whiskers, dog eyebrows, etc.) It started as a study of a coyote and when I noticed that it was turning into a very angry sheepdog, I went with it.
Here's where I left it last time, still a sketch. I got some comments that he looked too "fat" or barrel-chested, and I agree. It's not menacing enough and too vague.
So I added a paw to threaten more and give some depth. I liked the idea, but the angle was totally wrong. This looks like his forearm is really long and that he has no upper arm at all. And no amount of fog will cover that up! :)
So I decided to rework the position of the hand, make it hand(s) and went back to an old favorite pose. This also should drive the viewer back up into the face instead of off the canvas.
Laid in some tones for the hands to define them, added some moon-y rim lighting for the same purpose.I also increased the separation by darkening the torso (helped with the puffiness, too).
Next up: working on my contrast, clarifying the main areas of interest, some color, and (my favorite and yours) rendering details. Stay tuned!
