Tweet Better
When it comes to having a professional Twitter account, here's my advice to college students, recent grads or anyone looking to get hired through their use of social media: don't be that guy.
That guy (or girl) in the social media world is like a digital mosquito. Half of you reading this know exactly what I'm talking about, but for the other half--let me enlighten you on what it means to be that guy (or girl), and how to avoid being immeditaly skipped over in the social networking world.
(Disclaimer: I'm not perfect. My Twitter account undoubtedly has its flaws but I'm just trying to provide some guidance.)
Try not to be annoying. Posting too frequently will make followers think that what you have to say is boring, trivial and that you have nothing else to do with your time.
Tweet with purpose! Just because you see a good headline doesn't mean it's an interesting story or post. Click, and actually read through the material to see if it's truly worthy of a re-tweet.
Share information with your peers. If you have tips on jobs, studying or anything that benefits your colleagues or peers, don't be afraid to share! Remember that magic five-letter word you learned in kindergarten? It will help boost your followers, and their respect for you.
Lastly, DON'T BE ANNOYING! The leaders of this pack include, but aren't limited to, motivational tweet-ers and inexperienced social media marketers. Think twice before you tweet.
No one has to be that person, so help yourself tweet better!
