We are excited to be honoring Mary Elizabeth Davis at the PBG Leadership Luncheon on June 19!! Mary Elizabeth A. Davis was recently appointed Superintendent in Henry County Schools located in McDonough, Georgia. Henry County is currently the 9th largest district in the State of Georgia serving more than 42,000 students in 52 schools. Prior to joining the Henry County community, Mary Elizabeth was the Chief Academic Officer for the Cobb County School District in Marietta, Georgia; the 23rd largest school district in the United States. Prior to joining Cobb County, she served in the 13th largest district in the United States, Gwinnett County, Georgia, as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction where she was a part of the Broad Prize winning district for advancing student performance. Formerly, Mary Elizabeth served as a Presidential Appointee in the George W. Bush Administration and an Education Policy Advisor in the United States Senate. She began her professional career as a chemistry teacher in Fairfax County, VA and a physical science teacher in Cobb County, GA. A native of New Jersey, she earned a Chemistry degree at Messiah College in Pennsylvania where she also played field hockey and softball. After moving to Georgia, Mary Elizabeth completed a Masters in Public Administration, a Specialist in Educational Leadership, and a PhD in Educational Policy with a concentration in Social Foundations; all at Georgia State University. She now resides in McDonough, Georgia with her husband of 17 years PJ, and her two small children Attlie Hope and Trey. Leonard Sledge joined the Development Authority staff as Executive Director, following 4 years with the with the City of Hampton, Virginia as a Director of Economic Development. Leonard also served as the Director/Assistant Director for the College of William & Mary's Office of Economic Development. Leonard holds a Bachelor of General Science degree from Morehouse College, a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering Degree from Georgia Tech, and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. Leonard is active in professional economic development organizations including the Georgia Economic Developers Association. We are excited to be honoring Dr. Elna Poulard at the PBG Leadership Luncheon in June. Dr. Poulard is the Founder and President of Family Support Circle, Inc. (FSC). A 501 (c)(3), nonsectarian, social service agency that benefits the national community at large and now international. The organization provides after school and summer enrichment programs for elementary and middle school students, mentoring, scholarship education and sexual risk avoidance-abstinence education for high school students in Henry, Fulton, Dekalb and Clayton Counties. She partners with the Henry County School District to bring about educational supports to students in need of tutoring and homework in the after-school hours and during the school hours to help improve students’ grades.
