Northern lights & sunshine
Northern lights and sunshine were the absolute highlights of the “short notice” -trip to the Lofoten Islands last week.
When I told my friends I was going to the Lofoten Islands, almost all of them told me to pack all rain proof clothing that I got. I did as I was told and took all the warm hiking and outdoors gear that I got. As we drove off from Rovaniemi towards Unstad, Norway, the sun was shining bright from a clear blue sky and did not dissappear until we reached the Swedish boarder on the way back to Finland. Driving in the middle of the night, we were constantly distracted by the flaming northern lights.
During the week we had the chance to get couple of days surfing in Unstad, hiking up to a “cabin” in Svolvaer, sleeping under the stars, skinny dipping and enjoying the views of the Lofoten coastline.
The photos below show some of the highlights of the trip.

nordic nodes
This journal is about life in Kuusamo, Nordics and the adventures of an outdoor enthusiast portrayed though little stories and photographs. I wanted to start this blog is mostly for myself to keep track of things I’ve experienced and to create a small collection of photos on the way. However, hopefully others will find inspiration, ideas and enjoy seeing what life is like here in the North!
What are nodes and why are they important to me? Nodes can be described as connections, crossings or intersections of two or more things. I believe we are surrounded by interesting ideas, people, new scenery and learnings from the environment everyday. Therefore, I see nordic nodes as connections with the environment, meetings with interesting people and experiences from my travels. Sometimes these moments will end up on the pages of this journal.

Päätimme viime torstaina noin parin tunnin varoitusajalla lähteä tutustumaan yhteen Itämeren hienoimpaan purjelautailukohteeseen, Viron Ristnaan. Erittäin voimakas pohjoistuuli ja upeasti taittuvat aallot muodostivat yhden hienoimmista purjelautailukokemuksista mitä olemme Itämerellä kokeneet. Haastetta riitti pienimmän purjeemme ( 4.0m2 ) ollessa aivan liian iso ja ilman lämpötilan ollessa n. 4 astetta. Upea reissu ja takaisin jo toivottavasti tulevalla viikolla =)
