The orange splayed hair kid grumbled as he cleaned up an alcohol stain on the floor. It would have been easier with a mop but his sensi insisted he would learn more about hard work ethics if he scrubbed with a rag and bucket. He doesn’t know why he thought this guy would actually teach him anything, just because he was a three star hunter in his prime after the chimera ant war. That was obviously just his skill of the past.
The kid trudged the dirty water bucket outside to toss it, walking past his good for nothing master that was taking a drunken nap with a hat lowered over his face and his feet up on the porch fence. The kid tsked, as he heard Gon snort and mutter nonsense. He had to get out of here, finally stick up to his mentor and tell him he’s going to find another. But just as he was about to turn away from the forest line he just dumped the dirty water into, he spotted something darting through the trees. The teen gasped and remembered Gon’s shoddy teachings and focused energy of gyo to his eyes. He could pick up that it was a foreign person that was also using nen, a strong flowing presence of ten on their person.
The child hurried turned back to his mentor to warn him- but what was the point? Gon Freeces have been a useless drunkard for as long as he’s known him, giving him barely coherent training between stages of sober. But the kid froze- Gon was already looking with clear eyes directly where the nen stranger was approaching from. Gon quickly got up with more agility than the student has ever seen and kicked his staff up into his hands, then just as quickly- another person was in the clearing in front of Gon’s forest cabin.
“Killua.” Gon breathed. The student could barely follow what was happening, with a sudden appearance of a lithe man with long white hair tied back in a low braid, and Gon focused completely on him.
“Gon.” He answered back, voice low and sweet like honey. Or venom. “Good job following your orders to keep a low profile for these past couple of years. But the association needs your help.” The man- Killua said.
“Heh, and they had to send you? Isnt ‘messenger’ a bit below your skill set?” Gon chuckled, shoulders back and more confident than the student has seen. It was like a version of Gon he’s never seen before. Like the Gon he’s heard about as a three star hunter.
“They knew you’d agree if it was me who came to fetch you.” Killua said with a ghost of a smile. Gon barked a laugh, a bit bitter, picking up the Dovka bottle by his feet to polish off his drink, looking unaffected.
“Fair. But I know you were detected by my student before you got here. You slipping in discretion training?” Gon asked with a grin. Killua grinned and glanced back at the kid in question, making him straighten up in surprise. They finally addressed him, making him self conscious.
“I didn’t think you’d take on a student in your down time. I wanted to see how well his basics were.” Killua admitted. “This one’s pretty strong!” Gon grinned at him with pride and the orange haired kid flushed embarrassed from attention. He didnt think the teachings from Gon were not much anything at all but apparently it was enough to require acknowledgment from another highly skilled hunter.
“I would never half ass anything, even if I’m suppose to. Alright, lets go, I gotta drop him somewhere safe.” Gon said and winked at the kid before they were all off.
