The Twilight Sad - DESIGNED TO LOSE - IT'S THE LONG GOODBYE (2026)
I see you at night, and I stare at you. You don't care for me.
Without the light, I still glare at you, look away from me.
So don't lie, it's taken you all night, of feeling the same with me
So don't die, it's taken you all night, of feeling the same.
You are too old to fare on your own.
You are too old to fare on your own.
And they say, it can't be won when it's your eyes touching my eyes to the past we know.
They say it can't be done, and they say it's all just fun, it's your eyes, touching my eyes.
You like what you find, staring back at you, you don't care for me.
Do they understand you?
Do they call out your name?
And do they even miss you?
All these boys look the same
Did they try to hear you
When they called out your name?

We Were Promised Jetpacks Close Out American Tour in Williamsburg
Influenced by other Scottish bands like Frightened Rabbit and the Twilight Sad, singer-guitarist Adam Thompson, drummer Darren Lackie, guitarist Michael Palmer and bassist Sean Smith have been crafting catchy, heartfelt guitar-driven anthems as the We Were Promised Jetpacks ever since putting out their debut full-length, These Four Walls (stream it here), a decade ago. “These Four Walls is like a 50-minute, 11-song tour through the Scottish scene’s past, present and future, emphasizing how much of the country’s best pop music has been concerned with transporting listeners to specific places, so we can all linger there together,” offered the A.V. Club. And Prefix added: “We Were Promised Jetpacks throws down old-school alternative pop music, unabashedly channeling nearly every band to appear on 120 Minutes and establishing an important foothold against irony as currency in pop music.” The four-piece is currently celebrating the 10-year anniversary of These Four Walls, and the American tour—the band’s last with Palmer—concludes in Brooklyn on Wednesday night at Music Hall of Williamsburg. Glasgow, Scotland, quartet Catholic Action open the show.
JUST ANNOUNCED: EX HEX, Betty Who at the Club, Heart with Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Beck & Cage The Elephant with Spoon at Merriweather Post Pavilion, Shakey Graves & Dr. Dog at The Anthem, The Twilight Sad (Official) at U Street Music Hall, and more!
