He doesn't notice his staring at first, just mindlessly lost in his own thoughts. Some sort of daze he really can't put his finger on while he listens to the other play like he has a dozen times before. Whenever Soul's tapping away at the piano BlackStar always feels himself slip into a state he isn't used to being in, as if he's suddenly uncomfortable being in his own skin. Unsure of what to do with himself he unintentionally ends up getting lost in thought while he watches, entranced by the way his fingers move so effortlessly across keys BlackStar wouldn't even know what to do with. A few questions have often popped into his mind, some of which he's verbally expressed, but he can't remember the answer to most of them that Soul's likely given him. That's not what's important to him right now anyway.
His eyes peel away from the keys of the piano to the player, noting the expression on his face whenever he played. Soul felt like a different person whenever there was a piano sat in front of him but BlackStar's never acknowledged this fact or even brought attention to the fact that he's noticed. It isn't important and therefore not really worth having a conversation about. What went through his mind whenever he played? Was this like some sort of workout for him? It's funny, BlackStar considered him his best friend but he really didn't know the answers to these questions outside of guesses that he really didn't bother pulling answers for. He's always thought that Soul would tell him whenever he felt like telling him if it were really that important, otherwise he really didn't need to know the details.
This is probably one of the few instances where the meister can be found completely silent, and his deep thought has contributed to it. He and Soul were close as it was, BlackStar had no intention of soul searching in places he really didn't need to. Whatever was beyond that felt way beyond his comprehension, thus he elected to ignore it for now. He's sure Soul's song could be heard by any passerby but the fact that BlackStar was the only one he was playing for made it feel particularly personal, somehow. This song wasn't one that BlackStar recognized, not that he could remember, yet the choice of when and how it was performed almost made it feel like it was dedicated to him wordlessly. It earned his respect, his silence, and his attention all at once, without a single command. Was that because of the music or the person?
