for the ask meme: e, f, h, l, o, q, t, and v! i hope you're having a great day!! :'~))
ahh thank you so much <33
E: Have you ever participated in National Novel Writing Month or any of its variations?
I did! For 4 years actually, and Script Frenzy for 2. I won every year except the most recent time, in 2011. Unfortunately I don’t have time for that stuff anymore.
F: What’s your favorite book? Favorite author?
Ahh you guys are all gonna laugh at me. I’m super attached to The Catcher in the Rye and I love J.D. Salinger as both an author and a person.
H: How long have you been writing?
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing tbh. The first original story I ever remember completing I wrote in 4th grade, though I was writing fanfics for years before that haha
L: What advice would you give to other writers?
This is going to sound super cliche but please never give up. Being a writer is shitty. Except for in those rare moments when you’re reading a nice comment or getting really into the scene you’re working on, it constantly feels like you’re just using yourself as toilet paper. It’s easy to forget that you’re appreciated and that people like your work, but you have to push through the difficulties to continue doing the thing you love.
Also please stop using that one word to refer to Aoba. You know the one.
O: What motivates you to write?
I’m gonna start by saying that the whole “write for yourself!!!! :D” mentality is bullshit (at least for me, maybe that works for other people). Yeah, writing is definitely something I do for fun and to relieve stress and because there are things I know I’ll never be able to read unless I write it myself. But honestly all I want out of my writing is to make other people feel things. I write to create emotion in others, and that’s what motivates me.
Q: How do you get through writer’s block?
I don’t haha. That’s usually about when I give up and take a break for a few days. But if I have to get something done I turn off my wifi and hide my phone and force myself to write anything no matter how awful it is, knowing that I can fix it later when I edit it.
T: What’s your favorite part of the writing process? Why?
Ahh I have two. There’s that great part at the beginning where you have a fresh new idea and a blank new document and you just start spewing out onto it because you’re so excited to get it out there. The second is when I’ve been spending hours trying to word something right or get the right feeling and I finally have that breakthrough.
V: What do you listen to when you write?
EVERYTHING. I actually have a very large system of playlists I listen to when I write based on the characters/pairings I’m writing about or the mood I’m trying to set. In general though lots of OSTs.
