Need more creepy scummy mafia Jade. People always make Floyd the scummy one as if Jade isn’t secretly the most seedy person under that disguise of normalcy
Creepy, gross mafia boss Jade taking over his father’s business and, thus, dealing with the clients who still owe him money. :) he’s much older than you when he comes knocking on the door of your dingy, little apartment, asking if he can speak to your parent. You try to lie your way out of it at first because he looks shady as anything, saying he’s got the wrong address and you know nothing about who that person might be. But Jade’s not stupid, and he refuses to leave until you can produce your parent. Which, out of frustration, you snap at him that they’ve been dead for a few years now. It’s just you, so whatever he wants from them… you’ve got no part of it.
Oh, but you do. He’s all pleasant smiles when he informs you of the burden that now falls on your shoulders. Seeing as they’re no longer alive and that you are the next one to inherit whatever they left to you, it’s only natural you’d be next up to cover the debt they owe.
Debt? What debt? You don’t know anything about a debt! And so Jade lays it out for you like you’re a freshly born idiot, which makes you want to slap him, but you tamp down the urge. In life, your parent utilized Mr. Leech’s services when they needed help paying for certain things. Raising you was one of them. So, in a way, you’re tied to this, too. A reason your family went into debt. He really does his best to guilt you, and you already feel it. It’s bad enough you’re struggling to make ends meet yourself, but now you need to find some way to scrounge a bunch of money together for what is, as you’re now realizing, the mafia. And your parent didn’t leave much to you when they passed. You’ve always known poverty, so how can this man possibly expect you to just have the sum lying around?!
Of course, Jade can be fair and patient. If you need time to gather the amount owed, he’s more than happy to allow for that. Your meager savings aren’t enough, and the wages you make from your various jobs won’t help make a dent in what’s owed. You think, no matter how hard you try, you’ll be paying this debt off from your grave.
Maybe it’s possible to set up a payment plan? You try to bargain with him, feeling cornered and trapped in your own apartment, while he remains poised in the doorway, like some false prophet angel leading you right to the edge of a cliff. Mr. Leech would prefer the full sum, but Jade is in charge now. He can really make you suffer, just for fun. Just because he can.
You give him everything you have, just so he’ll leave. Just so you can try to live another day. Maybe tomorrow you’ll try to leave town. Maybe you can disappear without him knowing.
Jade’s done this charade plenty of times. He tells you, should any of what you’re thinking be acted upon, he will gladly make your life even more miserable than it already presently is. His tone is patronizing when he tells you to be smart, to use your brain, even if there isn’t much in there to start with. You’ve hated him since he knocked on your door, but now you really loathe him.
In short, he drives you to desperation. The sort that makes you do anything just to finally know peace. The next time he visits you, he has a choice for you. A little velvet box or a particularly sharp knife. You look at both of them, so tired, nearly at the end of your rope. Your exhausted eyes flick up to his bright, malicious ones. He’s asking you a simple question: pay in full with your body—marry him and all shall be worked out—or kill yourself and shove the problem onto someone else.
Neither sounds appealing. But what else can you do? You’re going to be kicked out soon because you can’t pay rent. You won’t have anywhere to go that won’t make you feel guilty, even when all you’re doing is simply breathing. He’s gross for thinking you’d marry him. He’s old. >:( and you hate him. And you’re pretty sure he hates you, too.
So you lift the knife, poke the sharpened point, and move swiftly, thrusting the blade right at him. It should stick right up in his ribs, but he saw this coming and he disarms you relatively fast. It’s almost embarrassing. His hold on you hurts and he’s twisting your arm in a way that makes you drop the knife, all so you can cry out and beg him to let you go.
What a pity. It seems you’d rather have him dead. That won’t solve the debt you owe, but it’s an amusing thought nonetheless. Marry him and he’ll give you every opportunity you can ever dream of to kill him. He looks manic when he looks at you, his face flushed, as if the exhilaration is arousing.
You’re not going to get another chance at life. You owe too much. And he’s about to break your arm. What else are you supposed to do?
It’s just the kind of crazy thing Jade would offer, apparently. Because when you meet the rest of his family you realize they’re all on the same level of severe, brutal and cutthroat. They’re not even surprised. And his mother thinks you’re just the sweetest thing. It really is insanity.
