Let me start by being honest and say I did not become completely immersed into the maine’s music until american candy. Before I had listened to a few of their songs which I thought were great, but not much happened after that. This album opened my eyes to what an incredible band they are. While I have not been around for 5 years supporting them like you have, I have now gone back and listened to the songs and realized how amazing they are. The songs on American Candy just hit home every time and I cannot imagine going a day without listening to at least one song on the record or any of their records actually. I almost went to the tour, but with no way to get there I sadly missed it. Instead I watched their concert videos and smiled and cried while listening to one of my now favorite bands play their songs. I now fully appreciate their lyrics and music much more than I had when I only listened to a few of their songs. From songs like 24 floors which remind me of my past self to My Hair which reminds me to just focus on pleasing myself instead of everyone around me and the line “always remember how lucky you are to have yourself” in (Un)Lost which reminds me of my worth the maine holds a special place in my heart. While I haven’t had any physical interaction with the maine I’m now impatiently waiting for the next tour so I can be surrounded by people who will passionately sing the lyrics with me.
