Shahid Kapoor at ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ success party
Jackson’s body froze, his eyes glued onto the nameless figure which began to walk away. He was shocked, stunned…Especially at the remark she made. After a minute or two, his jaw clenched firmly, his teeth locking in perfect sync together, a slight growl emitting from the back of his throat. Jackson’s ocean blue eyes lowered, secured tightly on the profile which walked away, his breathing beginning to increase gradually. His fists locked tightly together, his nails nearly stabbing into the palm of his hands. The upper part of his body tensed up as the boy began to move step by step over to her.
Jackson’s hand crept over to her shoulder, his grip tightening as he turned her around to face him. A sharp look from the woman daggered over to the hand which was placed on her, his eyes widening for a second. He quickly removed it before his eyes shot back to her, a cold glare being sent the woman’s way. “Listen, alright..I don’t appreciate what you just said to me, okay.” He simply said, the individual stuffing his hands into his pockets. His breathing calmed down, his gaze relaxing slightly. “But you know…I don’t think a woman your age could really survive in a place like this.” He spoke, his eyes wandering around the area as he spoke. “I mean, you look a bit fragile, and the Jobs here look like a lot of work. I don’t think you could put out.” Jackson’s sight finally aimed back to the woman, the corner of his lips curved up to form a sarcastic smile. “Don’t you think?”
"Yes, boy. I DO think. And I suggest you try thinking, too."
His audacity was outrageous, but his bravado was amusing and it could, perhaps, be an asset...if he could be controlled. "Despite your impertinent reference to my age, boy, I conclude by your remark that no one else in this....place....has yet passed through the trials and tribulations of puberty. Is that correct?"
It was dark by the time she finished walking the perimeter and returned to the gaggle of teenagers. Most of them were still milling about, squawking pointlessly to each other, several clearly had been crying. Useless, she thought. She locked eyes with the boy who earlier tried to taunt her as she left, “You were right,” she said and a smug smile crept across the boy’s face. “Indeed there was not much to figure out. For example, I can see everyone has already figured out that you are a self-important pretty boy who should not be allowed to speak." The young man looked stunned but she knew it would not last. "So don't.” She turned her back on him, depriving him of the audience his kind always craved.
“Girl!” Her voice sounded more harsh than she intended. Several heads turned, looking over their shoulders trying to see to whom she was speaking. Useless, she thought again. But one, the one to whom she had indeed been speaking looked directly at her, fixing her with dark eyes lit with tiny drops of the moon’s reflection. The girl and that gaze, stirred something familiar yet….she shook her head and said, “Tell me where the adults are,” then adding as an after thought, “and why you called me ‘Victoria’?”
