Stop I81 Pipeline Presentation in Lafayette: Tuesday, November 19
The Onondaga Nation has long worked to protect the environment both in their small remaining territory and across the globe. The most recent threat they face is the I81 Pipeline, a project closely tied with the effort to open up New York State to fracking for natural gas. They are looking for support from neighbors and supporters to stop this development.
The Stop the I-81 Pipeline Project is presenting a community presentation on Tuesday, November 19 about the proposed high pressure gas pipeline from Johnson City to Syracuse. The presentation will explain the impacts on the towns of Onondaga, LaFayette, Tully and others. These implications include: health problems, safety risks, landowner liability, mortgage issues, insurance issues, loss of property value, future land development, environmental threats and many more.
Come out to LaFayette Jr/Sr High School Auditorium, 3122 Route 11, LaFayette, NY, 13084, starting at 6:30 pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Two Row organizers to attend Ancient Voices Forum
Onondaga Faithkeeper Oren Lyons and Two Row Campaign Coordinator Andy Mager will attend the Ancient Voices – Contemporary Contexts Forum, Caring for Earth for Our Common Future, at Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico from November 8-11.
Organized by the The American Indian Institute & Traditional Circle of Indian Elders and Youth and hosted by Tewa Pueblo Elders, the invitation-only gathering will bring together ten traditional leaders from the Four Directions and about 50 delegates from the larger society. The indigenous leaders will share traditional teachings and prophecies that speak of the times we are now in when we are called on to unite with indigenous peoples to re-establish the balance and order of life on the planet.
“I am honored to participate in this gathering to learn from traditional indigenous leaders from far and wide,” remarked Andy Mager. “I look forward to the teachings which can help us move forward with next steps for the Two Row Wampum Renewal Campaign and to share our work with others at the gathering.”
Forum organizers describe the purpose of the gathering as follows. “This is a period of vast change in the world as ancient ice melts, ocean levels rise, and weather patterns become ever more erratic. These are not unexpected changes. Much of what is happening today was predicted in the teachings and prophecies of the indigenous peoples of North and South America. Now those prophecies can tell us a great deal about what still lies ahead. We will hear the teachings and prophecies as told by Native American Elders from the four directions. Then we will explore the alternative endings to the stories and thereby learn what we can do to help bend the path into the future.

Ramapough Seek Support for Environmental Clean Up
Ramapo Lenape Turtle Clan Chief, Vincent Mann and Algonquin educator Evan Pritchard at Two Row Fest in Beacon.
The Ramapough are seeking support for a full cleanup of their ancestral lands in what is now known as New Jersey. Turtle Clan leader Vincent Mann who welcomed the Two Row Campaign to Rampapough territory in the lower Hudson this summer, has requested support for our Ramapo relatives on November 7, 2013 at the 7 pm EPA hearing at Martin J Ryerson Middle School, 130 Valley Road, Ringwood, NJ. 07456.
The Ramapough are seeking more time to respond with a more effective solution and to show the government agencies that people care about Mother Earth. The Ramapough efforts in seeking clean land have been continuously stymied for 49 years but they haven’t given up.
The recent final EPA proposal was made without the presence of the people affected. It ignores the possibility that hazardous substances may potentially find a pathway to the Wanaque Reservoir, thus poisoning the drinking and bathing waters of the 2 to 3 million souls in the area from Ringwood south, including the greater Newark area.
The proposal consists of capping Peters Mine, Canon Mine, removing some fill from the O’Connor Landfill, located between the two, then capping the O’Connor landfill. It is further proposed to build a new recycling center and then move the existing center across Peters Mine Road to the O’Connor Landfill.
There is no mention of preventing the potential further contamination of the ground water which all flows to the Wanaque Reservoir.
These places are currently undisturbed. The proposed actions would disturb the land and the residents, polluting the air and further exposing the residents, without any substantial change, leaving the poisons which are killing them and have killed our relatives, in the earth, while moving some of the contamination to other places [contaminating them] and leaving the people to live on a Superfund Site in perpetuity
