Laneige Two Tone Lip Bar Review. (#5 Daring Darling & #9 Dolly Grape)

Hi shimmer sweethearts! ^^ I am just super excited to share these unique lipsticks I received from Laneige a couple of weeks back. I’m just so hyped coz ombre/gradient lips have always been my favorite makeup look and to be able to achieve such, I had to use a concealer, 2 shades of tint or lipstick and a lip balm. And now with these Two Tone Lip Bars from Laneige, I get the look I exactly want in one swipe!

PACKAGING:

I have always loved Laneige for their sleek and elegant packaging. They look so high-end and the quality is superb too! As for their lipsticks, I really find them comparable to the lipsticks I have from Dior and Lancome.

SHADES:

There are a total of 10 shades available for this lipstick series. 

Choosing the shade I want is no joke. The color combinations are just perfectly gorgeous! I was actually aiming for Burgundy Love and Magenta Muse, but I ended up choosing Daring Darling and Dolly Grape after personally trying ALL shades at their exhibit in Robinsons Magnolia last last week. 

Laneige’s Marketing officer, Mela and Laneige’s makeup artist, Winn recommended Daring Darling and Dolly Grape for me. No regrets! I’m super happy and I’m virtually hugging you guys right now! ♥ ♥

SWATCHES:

These lipsticks aren't heavily pigmented but they aren’t too sheer as well. They have a shiny finish which make them pretty moisturizing as well.

I just love how the 2 colors blend so well. Instant ombre everyone!

#5 Daring Darling (rose pink & coral red)

HOW TO APPLY:

Applying this special kind of lipstick may take a bit of getting used to. It’s slim rectangular shape perfectly fits the lips though, so it won’t be so hard to apply it.

I usually do my gradient lip makeup with the darker shade on the inner area of the lips and the lighter shade on the outer. It makes it more wearable that way (I think).

But thank heavens for 새벽! :) She’s one of my favorite Korean YT gurus next to Pony and Kwaktori! If you feel like playing with these two tone lip bars, here are different ways to flaunt them!

I asked Winn (Laneige’s Pro Makeup Artist) if he can help me on achieving the rest of the looks. He tried Look #2 on me with the shade #2 Red Blossom and it looked fascinating! I was just so hyped up that day I totally forgot to take a photo! Shame on meeee. #BloggerFail

Aha! And here’s a very important note. You silde the bar down, the lipstick goes up. Again, BAR DOWN >> LIPSTICK UP. Be careful not to slide the bar down while the cap is still intact or else you’re gonna end up destroying your dreams.

WHEN WORN:

#5 Daring Darling - I have never tried such color combination ever. I usually don’t like coral reds/red orange shades BUT this one looked glamorous with rose pink. 

#9 Dolly Grape - now this is a color which isn’t new to me. In fact, this is VERY ME. My tints are either red or fuchsia/plum pink so this one is an immediate favorite.

MY THOUGHTS:

Not that I’m feeling generous, but I’ll give this a 5/5 because it truly deserves a perfect score. It’s true that I can achieve those ombre looks with the lipsticks and tints I have here, but I prefer something more handy and easy to wear. Like I don’t have to bring out 2~3 products, put it on the public restroom counter like it’s my dresser, just to retouch my gradient lip color. Plus, they are also long wearing and do not highlight chapped lips! I am definitely getting more shades, or if my wallet allows, all shades! kkkk~ It’s my #1 favorite lip product as of the moment. 

Thank you so much Laneige Philippines for giving me the chance to try these right before you officially launched it! I really love ‘em. Mela, you saved my life by choosing these colors for me! I’m so happy I went by your recommendation.♥
