August Wilson's “TWO TRAINS RUNNING” (March 7th - 30, 2019)
Theatre: Marx Theatre, Cincinnati, OH
In August Wilson’s masterpiece, history unfolds around everyday lives against the backdrop of the civil rights movement. Long-time regulars gather at the local diner in Pittsburgh’s Hill District to gossip, flirt and play the numbers. Now the owner must decide whether to let the city take over his building or sell it to a shrewd, local businessman. Part of Wilson’s trailblazing American Century Cycle, Two Trains Running paints a compassionate and unforgettable portrait of ordinary people in the midst of transformation. [X]
Rightly seen as one of American Theatre’s great playwrights, August Wilson (1945-2005) earned a posthumous Oscar nomination earlier this year for the screenplay he wrote based on his Pulitzer Prize Tony Award-winning play, Fences. However, even if the script fails to win the award, Wilson’s work has won numerous awards, including a second Pulitzer Prize, for The Piano Lesson, and six New York Drama Critics' Circle Awards. After moving to Seattle in 1990, Wilson embarked on a relationship with with Seattle Repertory Theatre, which became the only theater in the country to produce his 10-play magnum opus, The Pittsburgh Cycle, in its entirety, and his one-man show How I Learned What I Learned. In honor of his local contributions, the vacated street south of Seattle Rep at Seattle Center was renamed August Wilson Way.

All she got to do is hear my…
