Two Vintners Syrah, Stoney Vine Vineyard, Walla Walla 2011
This was stunning, wake-up-and-notice Syrah. What struck me the most was the nervy minerality that others have deftly described as iodine or sanguine. It is rare to find a wine so confident in its approach to rarity and being so affordable at the same time. The mainstream packaging belies the food-friendly, live-wire, brine and fruit beast that lives within.
