i will never forget the lady who came into petsmart wanting her smooth chi shave because its "hair is too long". it barely had any hair to begin with. ridiculous.
Currently there’s a special grooming blade being marketted as a show comb for smooth chis where basically it cuts the dog’s fur in a way to make it stand up off the neck and tail (which should be naturally a bit more plush than the rest of the body). Even in dogs with minimal hair there’s corrective grooming. Ridiculous imo.
4/31: A dogblr you look up to
@twobigears puts an unfathomable amount of effort into not only working with her dogs, but into documenting her progress for herself (and sharing it with us) to learn from. I'm constantly finding myself amazed to see how far she gets even on days that she seems disappointed in her progress with the dogs.
On a related note: I love Chandra's ears. Theyre so goofy looking.

Is there a chance you’ll ever move back to Finland?
I honestly don’t know. I want to, but we will see if husband agrees in few years.
twobigears replied to your post “I feel so conflicted. I wanted to wait a bit to get another puppy but...”
I think it's normal to fee this conflict. People are ready for puppies in different times. Some are ready sooner, some later. I looked at litters shortly after Solstice died, and was massively tempted a couple times but I just couldn't do it yet. There should be zero judgement from anyone regarding when you feel ready. Kilo will never be replaced, he was the only Kilo.
I always knew losing Kilo would be incredibly hard. I just thought it would be years from now from old age. I had always intended on getting a second puppy when Kilo started to slow down. So that when Kilo got too old to do strenuous stuff the puppy would be old enough to. Also so that when it came to be Kilo’s time, having a second dog there would help the grieving process.
It just happened way too soon. I thought Lola would help, but how can I get attached to her when I know she might not be around much longer either. I’m just going to be in the same position. Except potentially with no dog at all.

Another sad example of how credentials on paper don’t always mean much. :/
I’ve met very few people that lead with “I’m xyz certified and went to xyz school and so now I am a CERTIFIED DOG TRAINER (tm)” that I’d ever bother paying for dog training knowledge from. Most of them either have no idea what they’re talking about, or are too far into their own philosophy to bother talking to.
The vast majority of people with schooling and certifications that have been a pleasure to talk to are folks who don’t mention their credentials unless asked for it. Much like any other professional, I imagine.

I’m feeling nuts for looking at two puppies about a year apart, three would definitely break me. And I like puppies too! I’m definitely looking forward to your puppy adventures!
Yeeeeeah that’s why I think 3 is going to be a little too much for me, and we’ll see how I do with 2 first since one of those is not staying to begin with. I love puppies, but there’s a limit to how thin I can stretch myself before I collapse and end up getting zero work done with all of the creatures.
I’m looking forward to your puppy adventures too! Between your white puffball and Wes’s black puffball, there should be plenty of adorable going around.
twobigears replied to your post “u ok with nazis and pedos following u or nah? bc I never see any...”
anon has only been around here approximately 0.2 seconds if they’ve never seen you speak against nazis and pedos
Me: the dog world is full of nazism and nazi ideals, america has a problem with fetishization of children and child-like traits, blah blah your standard hot takes
Anon, apparently: Jaz supports nazis and pedos because he recently kicked a aphobic terf off his blog and posted about it
But you know. I’m just doing this to show off how good a person I am and not because I believe these groups are dangerous or bad in any way, clearly.
