this is part of a series of one-shots that will later tie into a longer series on my AO3. They're meant to be read like the vignettes in Twisted Wonderland, so if you want a sequel please let me know. The reader is not Yuu. The reader is a student at the OC sister school Fantasia College for girls

A quiet evening swept over the merged campuses. (Name) walked along the long bridge that had been placed there magically by the three sister head mages, and the magical lanterns that dotted the spires created artificial stars. She loved the sights, as it was something she had only seen pictures of from her older brother and parents. At this time of night, students needed special permissions to pass the grand threshold which formally separated the sister campuses, but (Name) had been given such permission. She was currently on her way to deliver some outfits crafted by the Gothelweiss dorm to Ramshackle and elected to take the more scenic route. There was no mirror that was a direct link regardless, so it was better to go around.
(Name) happily trotted through the campus before arriving at the rickety steps of Ramshackle, a place she once feared at the beginning of the year, but now had grown to love with how much time she spent with her friends here. She rubbed a little sleep out of her eyes before peering in the windows to see if any lights were on, but all she saw was darkness. She approached the door as usual, and knocked, not really expecting a response due to how late it was. A few seconds went by before checking the instructions that her House warden had texted her. One of the immediate instructions was to text her when she arrived, so she shot the worrying house warden a message before scrolling up.
“So I just gotta go in and place it in the lounge. Simple enough.” (Name) knew through many antics that the lock on Ramshackle didn’t exactly work, and it was easy to just enter. “Two twists to the left, then jiggle the knob up…” and with her little chant, the lock unlatched. It was a trick that Ace figured out a few weeks into the school year when Yuu tried to lock him out in jest. (Name) could only giggle at the memory as Ace then gave Yuu the rant of a lifetime.
(Name) peeked her head in, without the lights, it was hard to see the end of Ramshackle’s infamously haunted hallways. (Name) didn’t want to wake anyone up, so she took her phone and illuminated the hall with the gentle light of her screen. “How eerie. I didn’t know Yuu and Grim sleep in conditions like this on the regular…” (Name) gently crept her way into the lounge, hugging the wall as to not knock anything over. “Let’s see… I guess I could place it on the coffee table--” as (Name) was contemplating and whispering to herself where to leave the goods, her phone buzzed. She quickly swipes at it and looks at the illuminated text from her house warden.
“Ace, Deuce, and Grim are on the floor. Be careful not to trip on them?” (Name) furrowed her brow before turning her light on the floor, illuminating all aforementioned with her phone. All three were splayed out, completely still, and all looking at her.
“Oh, you were right, Ace. It was (Name).” Deuce remarked, not moving from the floor, entirely flat.
“I told you. Only one besides us that knows the twist twist jiggle trick on the door is us, Yuu, and (Name).”
“Oi, someone could have figured it out!” Deuce tried to retort, but Ace only scoffed and rolls his eyes to the back of his immobile skull.
“That fast? You’re dumber than ever on poison.” Grim cackled and would have crossed his little arms had they not been attached to the floor.
“I wouldn’t be poisoned if Ace hadn’t made me eat the poison!” Deuce once again argued, but Ace wasn’t having any of it tonight.
“You scarfed down that food like the rest of us! Don’t act all honor student on us!” Ace hissed “But hey, this is great! (Name)’s here, she can just heal us and we’re good to go!” He brightly smiled at (Name) as if he was a beacon of innocence. “You wouldn't believe it (Name), we’re being treated awfully here!”
“I somehow doubt that…” (Name) replied with a bit of an awkward smile.
“Look, I’ll tell you all about it when I can move again, so, please! Use that flower magic!”
“Okay, okay, hang on,” (Name) was about to kneel down to ace first and activate her signature spell when her phone that she was using for light let out a buzz. She instinctively turned it towards her face, and read off the message. Her lip curled downward slightly as she comprehended what her dorm leader just sent her. “Do not heal them.”
“What?! Who said that? Why can’t you heal us? We’re just gonna go straight to bed!” Ace tried to argue, and Grim agreed.
“Yeah! It’s not even our fault that we got this way!” Grim added, giving a huff after his sentence.
“Rest in bed would be far more beneficial to this.” Deuce tried to rationalize his own selfish desires to be in the slightly more comfortable Ramshackle dorm bed, but (Name) only shook her head.
“Housewarden knows best, that is the motto of Gothelweiss.” (Name) perked up slightly. “That’s how the great trust of the golden mother permeates through our dorm.” “Sounds authoritarian to me…” Ace replied with a sigh. He knew (Name) well enough to know that once (Name) heard the word of her dorm leader, it was set. There was no convincing her out of it.
“That’s rich coming from a Heartslaybul student.” (Name) replied with puffed cheeks. “I don’t know what you did to get yourselves into this mess, but if Aster says you deserve it, you probably do.”
“Even Riddle isn’t this strict! It’s practically torture!” Ace tried once again to tear at (Name)’s heartstrings, but she only shook her head. “Man, of all the times for you to get stubborn…”
“Bwah! Hmf! I’m not stubborn!” (Name) huffed. She was quick to cross her arms and look away in a childish stance.
“Can you two not do this while we’re stuck like this? It’s honestly the worst.” Grim complained. Grim swore up and down that the two of them bickering the way they did wasn’t anything like the rest of the group’s bickering.
“How did you guys get stuck like this anyways?” (Name) chose to brush past the request of Grim, as it’s something that she’s been denying for a while now. She refused to acknowledge that anything could be different between the two of them.
“Ace and Grim wanted to snack late at night, I just came down for water.” It was Deuce’s turn to appear innocent, but Grim and Ace were quick to humble him.
“You were our agreed partner in this crime when you took that bite!”
“So it is a crime…” (Name) picked out the parts that flowed a little to easily for the floor boys.
“Ah- did I say crime?” Ace gave (Name) a smile before she sighed and decided to sit down on the floor with them. She leaned her back against a couch in the lounge and placed the package she had brought next to her. She motioned for Ace to continue. “So it’s like this…”
After a bit of retelling, (Name) is left with a bit of a yawn while Grimm happily snored away. He was adding details here and there, but eventually fell asleep against the rickety wood floor. (Name) saw her yawn travel from her to Deuce, as Deuce was practically comatose. The only one that was left even somewhat responsive was Ace.
“I can’t believe how powerful Vil is, his signature spell is amazing.” (Name) remarked. Her own house warden had spoken praises to him before, but now she really saw his power.
“That’s what you get out of the story!? No pity for your pal Ace?” Ace sighed before glancing up again at (Name), who was deep in thought over Vil’s spells. While he didn’t know exactly what time it was, he knew it was late enough to be dangerous. Any later would be even more dangerous. While he didn’t want her to leave, he knew she had to. “Oi. shouldn’t you be getting back now? It’s really late.”
“I was just about to, I’m really tired.” (Name) lifted herself off the ground and gave a hefty stretch. “I’m sure Aster is wondering where I am. I can’t worry her further.” (Name) reassured. Ace gave a slight pout. Of course, she’s more worried about Aster’s well-being than she is her own. He never really liked how overbearing Aster was, even as a House warden. She begins to make her way out the door, but Ace called out to her once more. “Text me when you get back.”
(Name) whipped around, and gave him a confused look. “But you won’t be able to read it? You’re paralyzed.” “My phone is in my pocket. I’ll hear the chime and know it’s you.”
“Oh! Okay! I guess that makes sense” (Name) didn’t think much of it beyond that. It was late, it made enough sense that anyone texting him this late would be her. “Good night guys! I’ll see you later!” with the creak and click of Ramshackle’s doors, (Name) was out into the night again.
“... you didn’t tell her that she has a special chime on your phone,” Deuce stated from the dark, stirring from his pseudo-slumber.
“She doesn’t need to know that!” Ace snapped before letting out a sigh “She’s the last person that needs to know that…”
