What if lycanthropy was real but you wouldn't turn into a wolf because out of all the animals, why a wolf??? But you would turn into an extinct species like tylacine? and then the entire genome of an extinct species would be preserved in a transmittable disease like the dna of a new world dog in that one dog cancer
