Butrón Castle, Spain 🇪🇸

Butrón Castle is a fairy-tale style castle located in the Basque Country of northern Spain. Surrounded by forests and hills, it is one of the most unique castles in the country.

The original fortress on the site dates back to the Middle Ages and belonged to the powerful Butrón family. During medieval times, the castle was involved in local noble conflicts known as the Band Wars in the Basque region.

In the 19th century, architect Francisco de Cubas redesigned the ruins into the romantic Neo-Gothic castle seen today, inspired by Bavarian castles and fantasy architecture rather than military defense.

Today, Butrón Castle is famous for its towers, dramatic appearance, and magical atmosphere, making it one of Spain’s most photographed castles.
