Our system seems to be working backwards at this time.” — Robert Trausch on the state of Mental Health Care and the Judicial System
I want to thank every human who made a difference in Tyler’s life with a special shout-out to Crisis Care Advocacy & Triage and Chico Housing Action Team for the housing and crisis-care they provided Tyler during the most stable and self-fulfilling time of his adult life.
I spoke at length with Tyler’s dad, Sean Stevens, at the Kentfield Farms memorial service around the joy and peace he had during this time. He shared nothing but love and admiration for everyone involved in this radical intervention, however short-lived it was. Blessings to all and much love and admiration for Tyler Stevens, a young man who died without a roof on the streets of Chico, California.
“If you have a roof be grateful.” — Guillermo Mash
I’m producing two radio shows to remember Molly Amick, a retired Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and noted artist who’s soul passed on March 31st after a three-year journey with breast cancer. The radio programs will also feature a segment on the story of Tyler Stevens, a young behavioural health client who died last week in a tragic accident. Myself and the tribe of people that loved and cared for Tyler are making sure his death wasn’t in vain. We intend to make his life experience a beacon for long overdue changes to the Butte County Behavioural Health System, something Molly championed for years. The first show airs July 27th on the KZFR Peace and Social Justice Show from 11:30 to 1pm and the second show airs August 10th in the same time-slot on KZFR 90.1 FM Starting on August 11th I’ll be focusing all my joy writing. I’ll be using social media sparingly until at least January, 2019. The idea is to return to the time when I was prolifically producing content, which included using social media to exclusively publish content. It’s time for this old-boy to regain the mojo... stay tuned.
