Honestly, much like Laura (and other left out characters), I think the fandom latched onto Danny and took ownership of him, because we saw the amazing potential he had to be a great character and a great contribution to the pack. But of course, because teen wolf's incapable of actually doing anything well, it fell completely flat. Danny literally got left in the dust and was completely forgotten, which is just embarrassing, but I'm not surprised in the least, because it's teen wolf

Yeah :( here’s the thing, I genuinely think canon Danny was an asshole lol but Jackson was also a pretty big asshole, even Stiles who I love and adore is an asshole pretty often, but unlike Danny everyone else got at least some development, which is why I can appreciate and even love them while I generally don’t care about Danny. I loathe tw for using the one canonically gay character they had in the beginning exclusively as a token, despite all the promises they made to fandom and to Keahu. And then the fact that they replaced him by another token gay boy... yikes. They couldn’t even use him in the season about computers?? Even though the one thing we knew about him besides GAY was that he was really good with computers?? And despite the fact that they knew fandom wanted him back? Ugh fuck tw.
