Book Review: I don’t get you - A guide to healthy conversations by Sherry Graf
Two things that immediately caught my eye when I received this book, “I don’t get you: A Guide to healthy conversations” by Sherry Graf. One is that its size makes it for easy for someone to easily dismiss it, but make no prejudgments because this book is just as a valuable resource to have in your library. Secondly, the foreword was written by Jerry Bridges, an author I was recently made aware of but have enjoyed since. This book only has 72 pages but manages to make a very important point - Physical purity starts with what we do with our hearts, not our hands.
There are various books on sexual purity written by Christian authors but this book is one of the rare and must-reads on the subject of emotionally purity. It is just as easily valuable, as the Bible writes a lot on the influence of the human heart on our actions. Graf writes about practical and wisdom-filled guidelines that individuals or even groups can discuss on the subject of Christlike interactions. Conversation topics and content is also addressed in order to provide insight in healthy friendships that encourage and that do not lead to awkwardness or one-way relationships that lead to a lot of confusion and hurt. Lastly, Graf also writes to men on ways to intentionally have conversations with one person you are interested on pursuing.
Overall, this book is amazing! I recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy from Tyndale Book Publishers as provided by the author, in exchange for a review. I was not asked to write a positive review in exchange for a copy, but choose to write a review that is constructive, honest and helpful to other consumers.
