A commissioned oil painting on 22 carat gold leaf of Newcastle’s quayside from 2019. Painted in an Art Deco style, it depicts the Sage, Gateshead, the millennium bridge and the river Tyne. The gold leaf takes on some wonderful effects depending on the lighting conditions. Painting on gold leaf in this style takes twice as long as most oil paintings as you have to give each colour two coats to get the right amount of depth to the pigment. However, the results are worth it. I hung the painting in the clients living room to go with the three other paintings they had purchased.
