Wow it has been a while...
I had a big trip planed for the 4th of July Holiday, so there was a, "no spending money on guns for a while," thing going on. But that is ok because Type 44 Japanese Carbine.
Yes, it is fantastic to say the least. The Type 44 pictured is a first production gun and was used hard by Imperial Japanese Army Scouts. It was more then likely picked up on Iwo Jima or Okinawa, but I couldn't say for sure.
All in all, a awesome addition to the collection.

The Type 44 was designed as an improvement of the Type 38 carbine for auxiliary and cavalry troops. Production began in 1911, when cavalry was still king. The folding-bayonet design permitted a mounted soldier one less clunky blade on his belt and kept a bayonet handy.
