There’s a possibility he hopped on the chance of becoming a teacher assistant too soon. He only graduated from undergrad studies a couple months ago and he hasn’t quite settled in his life of a graduate student yet. Being a teacher assistant would only add onto his workload of classes and the part-time job he’s trying so hard to maintain. He can only curse the education system for putting him in this much debt, but it was all his choice to begin with. There were benefits however, he did get paid and he knows his part-time wasn’t going to pay his bill or his rent, so maybe accepting the offer of becoming a GTA wasn’t that bad. It was just that the professor he’s assigned to TA for has a reputation, an extremely good one.
It’s his first day and nervousness grabs at his ankles and he can’t bring himself to take another step forward. Hyunseong looks at the door with wavering eyes. He’s heard a lot about Professor Kim Donghyun (he may’ve or may’ve not asked them about him). He’s apparently extremely handsome, a man of talent and skill, level-headed and charismatic. And amongst the staff, he’s known for being firm and passionate with his teachings of the performing arts. Indeed Kim Donghyun sounds like a very intimidating man. How did he, Shim Hyunseong, a lowly music composition major end up becoming the teacher assistant for such a man, he’s not even sure, but he considers himself lucky.
He swallows his nervousness away and knocks on the door. He’s told to enter and he carefully turns the handle and enters. The professor is sitting at his desk, staring at papers (and is that a half empty bottle of vodka?), not bothering to give Hyunseong a single glance. “Uh, hi. I’m your new TA, Shim Hyunseong.” He offers an awkward smile. “Nice to meet you?”
