day 126 - 5/5/24 - inverted light

but what if it could... get darker than dark?

what we know as "dark" is merely the absence of light. it is not a force of its own; it is a neutral state. zero. equilibrium. but what if it could go further? not just no light, but negative light. TRUE darkness.

this was what we wondered, when we began our search. and as if it was just waiting for someone to ask the right question, it appeared before us, engulfing us in its brilliant darkness, revealing things we never could have seen before.

day 116 - 4/25/24 - reverse maneki-neko

A cat made of gold with coins made of fur! Do you think it coughs up hairballs made of gold, or hairballs in the shape of coins? One thing's for sure: it will bring you good luck!

I'm so proud of this one. LOOK at the shading!! LOOK AT IT!!! This is the most and best shading I've ever done. I'm so happy with it. It's so good! Look at that! It's golden!! :D :D :D

day 8 - 1/8/24 - reverse anglerfish

a small, bioluminescent with a faux giant monster attached to it to scare away predators. quite similar to a Rove Beetle, actually.

day 129 - 5/8/24 - reflection beast

only visible in reflections.

had a cool idea where when it's in a reflection, the entire reflection becomes tinted red, but that would really only work well in like, an animated format, otherwise it just looks like a puddle of kool aid

day 16 - 1/16/24 - animal whose face is on the top of its body

in case it wasn't clear: when it is standing in a normal position, its face points straight up. this has zero benefits that i can think of.

day 110 - 4/19/24 - reverse snail

although it is a type of snail, it is the complete opposite of your usual snail in every way. the squishy body and hard shell have swapped places; now the body sits atop the shell in a spiral shape. whereas a snail is slow, a reverse snail can move at tremendous speeds. for a snail, that is. it's not going to outrun any cars, but it might near the speed of an airborne fly. unlike the hyper-defensive snail, which hides under its shell for safety, the reverse snail is hyper-offensive, with its fragile body completely vulnerable to the elements. with its tremendous speed it gores bugs on its shell's spikes, killing them before they get the chance to strike first.
