On March 31st (yeah I’m way late reporting this, sorry guys, I don’t really have an excuse) Savin gave us an update on the Oban Star Racers Bluray Project! He states that he’s currently negotiating with licensors in order to get more international dubs for the Bluray release. Originally only French, English, and Japanese were to be included, but many fans reached out to Savin about including dubs in other languages because that’s how they remembered watching the series as children.
Savin states that negotiations are slow, but that they are progressing. At this time it’s unknown what how many languages the Oban Bluray will include.
If you’re interested in the project, consider subscribing to the Bluray mailing list (linked on the OSR website)! It helps STW gauge interest.
Some more relevant information from the Twitter thread:
@Adultito: So the other dubs are Latin American Spanish, European Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Arabic, or are there more?
@EiffelSavin: Those plus a few more are our targets but we also have to consider costs and the amount of space available on the blurays. In other words, we're trying to recover, and plan to fit, as much as we can but there will have to be hard choices made too.
-
@Ekana_Stone: Will the Blu-ray have the English Dubs Opening?
@EiffelSavin: You mean the US opening song? That may be difficult because of the type of rights involved...
-
@NekoItoi: I'm so happy that the bluray is actually gonna be happening! Kind of curious, are you gonna the short that inspired the series, Molly Star Racer as like an extra or something?
@EiffelSavin: I'd love to but we don't own the right to the song. Not sure we can afford the fee on the budget we have.
I’m a little late with this one, but the website for Thomas Romain’s new studio, Studio No Border, is up! Stanislas Burnet (Oban Star Racers’ mech designer) is also part of the team.
So far there has been no word on whether or not this studio will be working with Sav! The World on the Oban sequel. Still, it’s exciting news!
“We are interviewing @Kirby_Morrow at this year's @comicconla #LACC2018! If anyone has any questions for him, reply with their question to this tweet! #Inuysha #Miroku #MikamiDeathNote #DEATHNOTE #ObanStarRacers”
Kirby Morrow, English voice actor for Prince Aikka, is being interviewed at LA Comic Con! Feel free to reply to the tweet linked above with your questions about playing the character!

Sav! The World has been updated too > https://savtheworld.com/
STW also has an official Facebook page now > https://www.facebook.com/Sav-The-World-Productions-433737580375022/
Sorry to post later than usual, but this is exciting news! The Oban Star Racers website is online again with a new look, new art galleries, and an eshop with merch that hasn’t been available for years. The news page also confirms that STW is still working on a sequel/spinoff and a Bluray release of the series.
Some exciting Oban news! A 16:9 HD remaster of the series is in the works, and an HD broadcast is planned for 2018! Currently, the dates, languages, and channels for any future broadcasts are TBA. Savin also confirmed that the Bluray release is still happening, but whether it will be in the original 4:3 format or the HD 16:9 format is undecided. Either way, an HD DVD release is also likely at some point in the future.
Yesterday at Japan Tours Festival, it was reported that Savin Yeatman-Eiffel (creator of Oban Star Racers) announced that he was considering making a sequel or spin off of the series. Thomas Romain (co-creator) has now CONFIRMED this!
There’s no guarantee that anything will happen, and Sav! The World currently has multiple non-OSR projects going on, but the news is still very exciting!
Concept art for possible Oban Star Racers sequel or spin-off presented at Japan Tours Festival
(Images via Eldur_380 of Eldursvero and Otacrew. Published here with OP’s permission)
At today’s OSR exhibit, Savin Yeatman-Eiffel (creator) presented two images reflecting concepts for a possible Oban sequel/spinoff. The first appears to feature Eva, Aikka, Rush, Spirit, and a Crog walking together. The second shows Aikka and G’dar fighting a giant centipede, possibly with another Nourasian riding on it. These images are still just reflective of an idea- nothing has been presented to investors yet.
This is so amazing though! When I posted this news last night, I had no idea that the studio was already this far along with their plans. I’m over the moon!
February 24-26, the French anime convention Japan Tours Festival will be hosting three Oban Star Racers exhibits! Multiple guests will also be present, including Savin Yeatman-Eiffel (creator), Stanislas Brunet (mecha designer), Rémi Caillebot (voice of Prince Aikka), and Gabrielle Jeru (voice of Eva Wei).
Sav! The World’s news page also states that the exhibits will feature “... screenings of episodes and pilots, including previously unreleased footage, conferences, artwork exhibition etc. ...”
So we might be getting some new (or at least, new for us) stuff, which is really exciting! Unfortunately, neither of your mods will be in attendance as we both live in the US, and neither of us can speak French. Parker contacted some people who may be going, but the bottom line is that we’ll most likely have to wait and see what surfaces online. Any news that we do get will be posted here so stay tuned!
Information about the individual exhibits is under the cut.
