J: Typical would be something that is already existing or some feeling for some archetype. And also we prefer to use type rather than use images. That seems like a strategy that is followed by a lot of people, but we have a bit a tradition of avoiding pictures.

K: It’s also a way of laziness and we like laziness. So ideally the laziest process of work is the best output we have. If we make some work with fewer steps of the process, it would be the best.

K: How to rebranding the biggest network? There is a huge amount of graphic designers in Greece that would not change or imagine changing. Especially after the crisis. So this looks like a luxury. These are the crucial moments that we can make people aware of what graphic design can do in Greece.

J: I would not speak of an actual community. But I can see some kind of relation between some other startup people in this field.

K: The thing is that at a certain level the clients stayed quite foreign to the Greek environment and they didn’t really commission Greek designers. They commissioned mostly studios from northern European countries. It’s funny that Greece is probably is not in their network.

K: I think what is interesting about the Greek situation is that graphic design is an undefined thing. There is not really an awareness of the profession.

J: I have to say a bit about my background. So, I am originally from the Netherlands, studied in Eindhoven in the Design Academy. But I left and I did not finish my study. So I’m also uneducated. I went to live in Paris and Switzerland and finally end up in Greece. I would still not be capable to speak about the Greek condition after 6 years. But at the same time, maybe as permanent foreigner, you see certain things or certain patterns better than from the culture.

K: Yeah, it’s like already existing or not existing, maybe it already exists but you have to rethink it.

J: Still at the end, you work on something that is already there, then you have to redo it in order to make it better.
