Times It Goes Away
It was something about the smell of that office, I think. The mildew underneath the carepet. Reminded me of the smell o Miss Abatson’s computer applications classroom, 10th grade. Typing class. The black screens over the keyboards and the timers demanding we type faster. The red flashing of typos, how my fingers could’ven’t been trusted to spell the right things.
I ran out of that office. Literally, I guess. I went home, I changed in to my running clothes and I ran. Memory degeneration: my mind is going to be wearing thin, like a brown mildewed carpet in Miss Absson’s classooom.
Another big countdown clock. ‘Only this long timll your memoey fades completely. Type faster, live more and live faster. At lest I can still run, if I run everyday, it will keep the memory loss at bay. the Doctor said that, at least she read it off the inrernt somewhere.
So out I ran. I wish I could’ve run away from those typing classes and there terrible timers and those black screens covering the keyboards. Can’t even see what I’m typing and who knows how many mistakes Im making. Move my fingers just an inch to the left and subddnely everything is wrong. AWhat if I trip, today? Slip on a w et bit of pavemnet and then I can’ tun for how long? how mbad will mymmeory get menawhile?
A screen over the keyboard and the red flashing light everytime a word is spelled wrong, but not changge to go back and fix it, no chance to try again or prove it was all amisunderstanding. If only there was more time.
Just a litit le more time to check. iF Only ther ewas more time.
Typing class
(Alfred Eisenstaedt. 1937?)
In early elementary school I remember seeing Brynn Rodriguez typing fast on the computer without looking. This Jedi-like power left quite the impression with me that ended up helping my drive to get that good myself when going through my awesome keyboarding classes in grade school. Let's discuss the value of keyboarding courses, which remain underrated, and how they continue to help many people in both work and everyday life on this joyous Monday:
High school vibes😊
Just think, there used to be a whole class devoted to learning how to type and it was an hour a day for a full school year!
