How do you feel about the tactics used by the Renalo brothers in GBF E18? I'm leaving it vague in case you haven't seen it yet.
Totally fine with it. They probably would have done okay in a head-on fight, since K9 is completely souped with all of the best GM variant tech they could slap on it, although I doubt they have the piloting skill to match Yuuki or Luang. But I don’t see what’s wrong with compensating for that with tactics.
I get that Yuuki and the others were upset that they were playing just to win rather than for the enjoyment of the battle, but considering the kind of prestige and reach that World Tournament has, why wouldn’t you do whatever it took to advance the farthest? Same deal with that dude on Jeopardy right now who has everyone up in arms because he’s playing with game theory rather than convention.
And it’s not like characters in Gundam stories have never had to overcome challenges like that. There’s the M’quve fight in original Gundam, for instance, and I vaguely remember one fight in Gundam X that involved a lot of wire traps and sneakiness on the opponent’s side. The best pilots can get around that. If Yuuki couldn’t, then he wouldn’t deserve his title or the right to advance.
