The great thing about the Tzenkethi is that canon Star Trek tells us absolutely nothing about them exceptthat their leader is called "the autarch" and they run a oretty unsavory empire, so the writers of various novels and comics and games have just filled them in with contradictory details; oh they have a rigid hierarchy, oh they're basically dinosaurs, oh they're eugenicists.

Anyway, you just know that of they ever flesh them out in canon, they're just going to be the usual angry rubber-forehead aliens.

Star trek rant/poll incoming:

Long story short, there are a lot of very unique yet criminally underrepresented species in star trek.

One of the reasons I like Star Trek Online is because it actually brings you face-to-face with a lot of these species. With many of them, namely the iconians, tzenkethi, and hur’q being important players in galactic lore yet we never actually see what they look like in alpha canon (on tv).

Star Trek Online brings these three boogeyman species to life and went as far as to make the iconians my favorite star trek species of all time with the way they (and their heralds) are designed and portrayed throughout the games story arcs.

Other underrepresented species like the tholians and the elachi have appeared very briefly in alpha canon but are more prominent in works like Star Trek Online.
